Watched Love the Beast at the weekend too. At the end they said he was going to rebuild the car. It's been a couple of years, so has he rebuilt it, or at least made a start on it?

I bloody hope so, but on his facebook page, despite the constant questions as to whether he will or won't he never mentions it. If I was him, I'd rebuild it then move on to doing something like Le Mans in a porka.

Broadcast HD is generally 1080i, but I saw something during the week about how BBC is shifting a load of stuff to 1080p and all Freeview HD boxes are mandated to be able to handle the switch between i and p seamlessly, though it appears some TVs are having momentary sound dropouts or something. I don't know if that includes F1.

A bit more info. http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/bbc-hd-audio-dropouts-sony-201105201158.htm

Has there ever been an F1 World Champion who hasn't won an F1 race at Monaco? I'm not strictly talking about in their championship year/s, just at soem point in their F1 careers.

So what's the deal with free practice being on Thursday and not Friday here? Why have it early and then have a day's break before qualifying?

The practice would usually take place on the Thursday as it was Ascension day, so a public holiday anyway. Doesn't always fall on Ascension day now so I guess it's just a case of tradition now which I quite like, plus I doubt the teams will complain about an extra day in Monaco where they do lots of deals and use it to impress the sponsors.

... just going to call the missus and tell her I'm off to the shops :eyebrows:

Incidentally, the Senna film is currently being sold on Blu-Ray at Amazon.co.uk through various Amazon Marketplace dealers. It's the Japanese release (been out since March over there) but is region free and has English language audio.

Ordered

As much as I'd like to watch it in the cinema, I am going to watch it at home first I think. Might sound stupid but I remember Imola weekend like it was yesterday and it still gets to me every time I watch footage from that weekend. Figured it might be best for me to be left alone with my own thoughts the first time through.

Have to say I'm sort of the same, the whole weekend and his death had quite an impact on me, that weekend is clearer in my head than last weekend. Still not totally sure if I even want to watch it.

FP2 on now, from the BBC text feed:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/formula_one/9497040.stm

"Ferrari's Fernando Alonso was a happy chap after narrowly losing out to Sebastian Vettel's Red Bull in morning practice. One of the BBC cameraman tells me Alonso had a big grin when he climbed out of his Ferrari and that he then strode towards the camera before enthusiastically saying the word 'spaghetti' into the lens"

If here is Monaco then mark me down for jealous, must be fantastic.

Really is brilliant to watch the cars being thrown around the track, getting the rear out, Alonso is really having fun out there.

So Ferrari looking good, Mclaren and Merc as well, looking like RBR might not get it all their own way. They where saying in the FP commentary the the tyres are holding up much better at Monaco so one stop could be a possibility, quali suddenly becomes all important again. Bring on Sunday, can't wait.

Felipe Massa, I might have given up on you ever taking the fight to Alonso at Ferrari and been downbeat about you since the start of the season, but my god seeing you drag that Ferrari by its balls around Monaco means you are forgiven.

I've given up on the practice times, it looks really close and the same for Q1 and Q2, then Q3 arrives and the Red Bulls have a clear gap, Hamilton gets suprisingly close but notably ahead of Button, Alonso is in the mix somewhere and Schumacher disappoints and is approximately 10th, beaten by Rosberg.
