My reading of the situation: Lewis' tyres went off first but they had to pit Jenson first because he was the leader. Now the race is compromised for both of them

Yeah at the point the decision was made, Hamilton was still ahead of Vettel. If they'd brought Hamilton in Vettel getting ahead through the stops would have been almost inevitable (he's clearly quicker and coping with tyres better because he was able to sit in Lewis' dirty air).

DRS obviously screwed that plan though!

Things are certainly improving after the dire first grand prix.

I think if you compare the first GP of this year to the first last year, it was far from dire :)

Also, I too have no bloody idea what's going on with all the pit stops now...

So if I understand it correctly, the Mclarens and Rosberg need to be at least 23s ahead of Vettel before they pit for their 3rd and final stop, otherwise Vettel gets ahead of them (assuming he's on a 2 stop and doesn't have to stop again)

I think Red Bull are surprised at the level of wear, and may need to switch. Otherwise they're doing 23 laps on one set!

Could punish them like it did Lewis last week.

Yeah, fingers crossed eh ;) 19 was the longest anyone went on the hards last week I think, so I guess it depends on whether this place really is easier on tyres than Malaysia was.
