With all this rev limiter stuff I'm kinda surprised an F1 team hasn't fitted an 8th "Overdrive" gear that you only ever use with KERS and DRS activated.

American open wheel does something similar all the time on fast ovals, normally run in 5th but 6th if you're right behind someone, partially to save fuel, partially to provide rev-room to pass.
