Yeah The McLaren years.

though he did get the Lotus to places it should never have gone.

I know i'm a fanboy but every year Senna drove in F1 was a 'peak year', he out drove every car he ever raced in and only during the peak McLaren years did he have the best car - even when he went to Williams it was clear they were behind the Benetton and the last thing ever did was to out qualify Schumacher in an inferior car (the Benetton had electronic cheat systems but the case was mysteriously dropped...) and the Williams was a dog of a car until they heavily revised it after Senna had died.

Dangerous is a bit strong, he was on the edge, certainly pushed boundaries and had a disdain of many of the 'journeyman' drivers but he was a 110% driver every lap and he always went for an overtake and often binned it when other drivers would have backed off or settled for finishing 2nd etc. More total commitment to win at nearly all costs than plain dangerous.

God Jean-Marie Balestre comes across as a total cunt in this & Bernie's autobiography.

Whatever version I'm watching is defo an early cut as I'm at 1.40mins with about 1hour to go.

Imdb lists the entire film at 1.40.

The one I grabbed is 1 hour 45 minutes long and even has the audio commentary track.

My girlfriend has been acting very proud of what she was getting me for my birthday this year for quite some time, and finally let it out of the bag with just two days to go.

6 days in Nice, with tickets to Monaco qualifying and the race. :omg: :OMG: :omg:

If she really loved you it would be tickets to Spa!

Lucky bastard.

(I'm not jealous, oh no..)

Trying to beat me for going miles over budget last year in getting her an iPad. We've agreed to more sensible gifts next time round.

This was how she broke the news...

makku you are one lucky sod! Monaco and a girlfriend who can combine the arts of Meccano, Lego and a Red Bull can

I know. I need to keep telling myself this. It's been a high-pressure time elsewhere in life.

It's not been a bad week all in all, I guess.

That Gulf jacket is amazing!

Just finished the Senna movie, really really enjoyed it, although as soon as it moved to Imola 94 I was very close to turning it off. When Rubens went off, my stomach knotted up, then Ratzenberger's crash left a lump in my throat and then the in-car camera's prior to Ayrton's crash I was just wanting it to stop :( It's mad just how clearly I remember that day, I was 10 and it was my Dad's birthday too, he's not a huge F1 fan, well not as much a fan as I've always been (he's always followed the bikes more than cars), but I think its one he'd rather forget.

Is the Stewart doc available on iPlayer at all?

Regarding Hamilton.

I think any driver would give his left testical to drive a Newey car. However, When Mr Redbull gets bored of playing at being a team owner, where will the Redbull team go. You know that McLaren will always be in F1, like Ferrari and i suspect thats what the "just a drinks company" comment was all about. Would he want to go to a team that's only there as long as the Redbull brand is interested ?

But it's Newey really. He'd be a fool to pass up one of those cars.

I can't see Red Bull going anywhere as long as the cars remain at least moderately successful. The owner may get bored of the racing eventually, but I saw a media/advertising analysis of the F1 team sponsors that concluded the Red Bull brand edfectively gets about £9 of air time for every pound they spend on the car, so in relative terms it's a great value way of advertising the drink.
