Button was insane to think he'd get away with that. Although he was ahead for one split second just before they turned in although clearly on the outside of the corner so is that really ahead?

Yeah, you can't really throw the car into a corner so fast that you can't actually keep it on the racetrack and then claim that extra distance you've gained as a proper lead can you.

I have to say though that they are supposed to be toughening up on the rule about the painted lines on the track this year and you need to keep two wheels inside it at all times as they're trying to stop cars going over the kerbs at chicanes, so why are they allowed to go so wide on that corner where Vettel overtook Button? I haven't seen a replay of it but I'm fairly sure he went totally off the track but no one seems concerned about that, they're changing the shape of the racetrack to make it easier for themselves, just because there's a straight afterwards and not a corner that shouldn't matter.

Yeah, the 60th anniversary one was the weaker of the two thats for sure, it didn't really feel like a celebration of the sport.

I was also a little uncomfortable for the amount of blame the second one laid at the feet of Colin Chapman too.

I don't like Vettel at all, but wasn't it more a case that while the 2 of them were racing Vettel got pushed off the track, (due to it being flat tarmac he didnt have to slow down) rejoined and after the turn passed button. I am prob wrong though.

I think he passed him immediately after going off the track, but yeah, he was able to make the pass because he went wide and maintained his speed instead of slowing down and tucking in behind Button again. Definitely gained an advantage because of it.

It's not quite the same crime as Button on Massa, but I think it is something they should clamp down on.

I'd also like to see the stewards act more like football referees than as a judge and jury; dealing with incidents in real time instead of making a ruling ten minutes later. They should be able to say "let him back past" or "stay where you are" within a lap, rather than forcing teams to gamble on it when there's a close call.

I don't think the stewards 'forced' anyone to do anything though. It was clear as day that Button should have let Massa back through; the issue was only complicated for McLaren and Jenson by Alonso's presence.

Mclaren made a mistake, he should have let both of them through. He had the faster car & would have caught them up to overtake or take them via pit stops.

It was a poor decision, but once Alonso passed Massa it would have been some real sandbagging going on and Button would have no chance, so I see why they wanted.to avoid that.

McLaren waited too long because they gambled. Button should have let Massa pass straight away - then only Massa would have passed.

I thought they had an opportunity when Alonso pitted to allow Massa back through without letting Alonso through. As I understand it, Alonso pitted first which I thought was a tactical mistake becuase then Button could let Massa through. Alas it didn't happen which surprised me.

They don't need a code any more - team orders are now legal.

yeah, but they still like to code them.

Yes which made matters worse by both Ferrari drivers then pitting & leaving the stewards with no other choice but to give a stop & go to Button. At least the Mclaren have sorted their car out & the Ferrari looks like it needs some work to be competitive

It was still a good first race & well done to Petrov on the podium. The Saubers looked good albeit later disqualified.

Need Ferrari to improve the car & Heidfeld to start performing or go so some-one else can come in and race the Renault, so it can become a 3/4 team battle at the top for winning races.

I've fixed your post. You've missed "Baby"

-minus of course the correct spelling of Felipe :)

Lewis Hamilton

Hey guys, big news -- I'm going to be in @DisneyPixar's #Cars2! Take a look at my car... This is wicked;) http://t.co/6aeQfq3

It appears to be an MP4-12C in British Racing Green with Hamilton's brown eyes and neat gappy teeth detail!

Ouch !! that might have something to do with it but no mention of it during the race or red button forum. Which I thought was a bit poor, could they not get seats in a motorhome somewhere & the section with Martin was rubbish I want him with the others interviewing the drivers & team managers

Christ, F1 has become so boring to watch. Do people honestly enjoy this? The only decent races last year where when it rained (even Ecclestone has said he wants to make a machine to make it rain on the races!) and something interesting happened. Now its just a parade lap with no real overtaking by most of the major players and cars that dont seem to be able to overtake enough. The new tech didn't change that at all.

I was hoping last seasons bore fest was a one off, but it seems the sport is doomed at least in the short term.

And for those who disagree just download any season from the late 80s or early 90s to see what the sport once was.
