I hope we get to see a full lap on-board from that, looks excellent. Not sure what's more impressive, 18 seconds quicker than the V8 record or the record holder being only 1 second slower than Button. The V8 wins on the sound though.

I've always liked Nick Wirth - seems a really level-headed kind of guy. Think he got a bit tarred by the Andrea Moda thing early doors, then the whole Simtek thing was overshadowed by poor old Ratzenberger and the lack of cash. I kind of like the way he's moving onward with his CFD methods too - he's brave enough to put his faith in all that and stand up for it in interviews, but also not afraid to accept it has its downfalls.

And there was nothing especially wrong with the Andrea Moda car. It was run badly by rank amateurs and yet it was still quick enough to get into a race at a time there were 30+ entrants at every round.

I wonder if there's a book on the Andrea Moda saga? I love what little I know but I'll wager it's far worse than we really imagine it to be. Wasn't moda himself some kind of wannabe gangster?

I've read his book and he does indeed talk about his time at Andrea Moda. Can't really remember the specifics though. Book is generally worth a read.

This, been years since I went through it, but sticking him on wet tyres to pre quailify in the dry is a particular piece worthy of note.

Actually, the team owner Sassetti or whatever he called himself, really did go to town on the list of excuses, I'm only slightly surprised that 'my dog ate the engines' wasn't used.

Great video by Mercedes, hopefully we'll see more of these types of things from the teams, fingers crossed for the sliding as well. Maybe one day Bernie will also learn about the benefits of YouTube.

America doesn't deserve an F1 race. There, I've said it. Go away & take your sprinklers with you.

*applause*

two of the greatest race tracks on earth and they feel the need to build a new one, that nobody will attend anyway.

"In keeping with our commitment to nurturing young talent, our reserve driver strategy is to help a number of drivers gain hard to come by track time and so we will be operating a roster featuring a number of racers that we are interested in evaluating during the forthcoming season."

But he's 28 and has a past record of showing that he's shit...

From what I've learned of Bernie from that No Angel book, the sprinklers business is obviously some kind of distraction and quite likely the whole idea of an American race is just to squeeze some more money out of the established circuits.
