I wonder how it will work in relation to KERs, if you've got someone close behind it makes sense to save it until near the passing zone, at which point I guess the driver who is following will use theirs nullifying the point of KERs or has used it up to get close which means they can't use the ARW now. It's all gimmicky bollocks, I never liked KERs, wish it hadn't come back and just don't like the concept of push to pass, it's fake racing.

You can't use the wing if you're in front.

I know, probably not the clearest of posts sorry, was just wondering how KERS will compare to the ARW. Surely it will provide some counter for the driver in front, plus if you know the spot where they can use the ARW, it makes sense to make sure they have KERS available for then. But then the driver behind knows that so does the same, plus this is something the commentators are going to have to keep on top of and inform us.

That colour scheme is rather bizarre, they should have used the shades of red for the dry tyres and green-blue for inters and wets.

The F1 rules dictate that there must be a two-compound gap between the two available types of dry-weather tyres at each race, so there is no chance of the silver and white being confused as the hard and medium tyres will never be used at the same race.

So silver-white won't be confused, but they missed an opportunity there, imagine having all teams with different strategies using up the entire spectrum of tyre choices - would have been fun to watch (and keep up with). As it is the only two choices will be hard + soft or medium + super soft.

I'm gonna have to watch moto gp to stave off my withdrawal symptoms. The irony is next weekend I cant actually watch the race live as I'm go karting. Fail

Saturday is race day for me, 3 hour enduro which means I'll be in no fit state to wake up early on sunday. <_<

The 2nd half of that live stream is going to be really dull.

You couldn't be wrong any more. We've just passed the 6-hour marker, and the battle is ON. Especially in the GT class, where Ferrari's, BMW's, Chevrolets and Porsches have been switching for the lead lap after lap. It's like cup racing, only longer! :D

Seriously, watch if all here.

I finally popped round to Mercedes Benz world at brooklands today to check the exploded f1 car. It's very very impressive in the flesh. If you have a minute to spare & it's not too far to go I'd recommend it.

Some phone pics of F1 related stuff there...

Speaking of Mercedes, this ad was in the Bedfordshire on Sunday newspaper this morning

Such a shame I can't drive and live just a little too far away for it to be practical, I don't really have any qualifications so sticking stickers on F1 team stuff would be kind of cool, lol.

Sebring was great yesterday, think I ended up watching about half of it. Was good to see Oreca get the win, well I say see I fell asleep with 30min left on the clock. Was some really good racing throughout, it's fantastic how battles develop and stay close through the whole 12hrs. Plus night racing is really spectacular shows F1 how you do it, obviously F1 could never do anything close to sports cars sadly. Really looking forward to the ILMS this year, we've got the new Audi and Aston at Spa next to join the Peugeot which fingers crossed will provide some great battles this year. Then the Vettes, BMW and Ferrari got off to a great start in the LM GTE Pro class, interesting to see where the Lotus will fit into the mix come Spa.

I really hope the ILMS takes off, would love to see a really successful and exciting sports car series, sadly I get the impression the GT1 world championship isn't going to live up to that. I hope there are plans to stream all of them this year and it's not going to just depend on the individual race, will be watching them if so. Annoying that the Silverstone round is the same weekend as Monza again.

Does anyone know what the plans are for the McLaren MPC12? I know there's going to be a GT3 car, not sure how compatible or easy to modify that is for the GTE regulations. Would be great to see it enter the ILMS, fighting with Ferrari, BMW, Lotus and the Vettes would be fantastic.

Some pictures from yesterday, more here including the bikini contest, don't see those at F1.

Glad I wasn't the only one who enjoyed that last night :) I was really glued to the screen halfway the race, with the constant dueling in the GT class. BMW's, Ferrari's, Corvette's and Porsches all batling for the lead. Lotus coming in as well later sounds great, and I can see the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 join in the fray as well. That's proper GT racing, people!

Also, seeing what's basically a Honda prototype racer finish in second (behind a 2010 Peugeot 908 from Oreca, beating the updated works models!), really bodes well for the future of Le Mans. Not to mention the Toyota engine in the Rebellion LMP1 car, and the Nissan in an LMP2. Here's hope for a sneaky return of the Japanese to Le Mans!

In the end I fell asleep about two hours before the finish of the race last night, missing the climax, but the racing action I saw over the evening was already very satisfying. Will definitely be watching that American Le Mans Series :)

Yeah I got a 2 hour endurance at 9am on Sunday. I'd be able to catch the start but I'd miss the end. I'd rather catch the whole thing in the afternoon.

Where & what are you racing?

That, at a place called Radnor which is on a pile of land owned by the guys at Rodda's creamery. Quite a flat run but often muddy, hence the nose guard to keep crap out of the radiator.

Usually I take the Friday of a Melbourne weekend off so I can stay up late to watch FP1 and FP2 and get a lie-in the next day so I can wake up late and lazily read through the associated news stories whilst in bed. Not done it this year, though.

Although, in typing this it now seems a good idea...

... fuck it, booked it off. Bring it on!

Oh & a reminder the guardian in the uk is doing it's F1 preview magazine today. Normally worth a peep.

Just came to post about that. Highlights include:

With changes to the tracks, the tyres, and the cars, this season promises to be anything but predictable. World champions Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher write about their preparations, and anticipate the challenges that lie ahead.

Get the drivers' view on every straight, bend and hairpin. And not just any drivers: Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton give us the lowdown on the courses.

Technical director of Williams, Sam Michael, will be explaining the impact of the new regulations on the design of the cars. Plus, we'll be taking an in-depth look at the steering wheel and finding out just what all those buttons do.
