The cameraman is lucky to be alive. You listen to the BBC commentary and they say he ducked or something (as the camera points down briefly then refocuses on Buemi's car), but it was more than that. Watch the in car footage and you can just see the right wheel continuing on a 200mph collision course with the tyre barrier right where the camera is and bounce up off the tyres and over the fence. Lucky cameraman, and lucky Torro Rosso, this could have been very nasty.

So Ferrari have it, but how the hell is it operated?! Nowhere near the driver from this evidence, which i would have thought means it's operated by the door opening & closing? But that would be a moveable aerodynamic device...

They've not got the complete system on yet so it's not actually working. Seems it was just a case of checking the new wing and engine cover are ok. It does seem from what Alonso said there will be something in the cockpit, be interesting to see what Ferrari have done with it. From Autosport:

Alonso also said that the first evaluation of Ferrari's F-Duct system would need careful analysis from the team's engineers, with only the engine cover unit being run so far.

"The F-system was not active," he said. "We tested some parts of the engine cover and the rear wing to validate them and to check they worked fine, but the aerodynamicists will now gather data. But the system was not complete.

"I had nothing inside the cockpit because the system is not complete. We tested the engine cover to compare it with the standard one. I didn't notice anything. I guess there will some new numbers from an aero point of view."

I do wonder if they may have adapted it somehow to help with engine cooling.

The way they're talking about engines can't but help make me wonder that those spanner monkies at Ferrari are busy whipping units in and out of the car all day and night friday and saturday. Right up to the point where it either explodes or the car sets a laptime in final qualifying.

I thought they were supposed to be knocking that shit on the head?

Compared to Webber's smoke-cloud that is an utterly useless special weapon. Sure, if it grew wings in the place of the tyres that'd be fine. But nothing? Useless!

Can't believe Ecclestone is talking about 20 races next season... and up to 25 after that!

I'd say the more racing the better, but there's no guarantee that we'll not just end up with a load more Valencias.

I don't know. Schumachers used the whole car to gain an advantage usually in desperate circumstances, deploying your front wheels is up there with it I guess.

I've just realised I made half a joke. Pretend you read this the first time:

"Sure, if it grew wings in the place of the tyres and played a jingle of Toro Rosso gives you wiiiiiiiings when he hit the button, that'd be much better"
