Some pics from Malaysia, wonder what the odds are on not getting a full race again this year, Virgin will no doubt be performing a rain dance or two.

They actually had a twitter update where they hoped there WOULD be a full race.

I replied along the lines of "Are you fucking mad?"

all street circuits suffer from the same problem. They're made for mum to take the kids to schol and jonney fart pants to deliver 200 condoms to the local chemist. Not let the height of technology blast past at a million miles an hour. Monaco is exactly the same, if you're not on plole forget it.

Melbourne and Canada are okay because they're not on city streets.

I always liked Adelaide.....the Brabham straight was fantastic, and there always seemed to be some interesting incidents happening.

That Atlas F1 one is closer to what I had in mind.

I think a website which shows different cars from each year and the rule changes and technologies which caused the changes to happen would be extremely interesting, and wondered if it already existed. Perhaps I should take a trip to Donnington Museum since it looks like that's the closest I'm going to get, it's quite close and I haven't been there since primary school...

I'm not 100% sure if it's still open due to all the problems with the incomplete works and the bankruptcy and so on.

It's not F1 but Mulsannes Corner does an excedllent job of techincal analysis for Le Mans Prototypes.

Marca did an interesting thing that shows you how the shape of the Ferrari has changed over the last 10 seasons. It morphs one into the other, nothing on the technical or regulation changes though.

I've got a big F1 picture book from the early 2000s. It's got a pic at the same corner at Monaco each year for several of the long term teams. So there's 50 years of Ferraris all taken in the same place. I should try and scan it.

That crash almost killed him...

The funny thing is that it doesn't look that bad (apart from the way he's flung around in the cockpit), but did he not have to get an emergency tracheotomy at the roadside, so he could actually breathe? Scary stuff....

Good practise today, it will be interesting to see how the Mercedes perform on Sat/Sun- they certainly looked pretty good today, although I don't know how much fuel they had on board.

Just had a quick play of Malaysia on F109 (yeah, the Wii version... so??? ) and it reminded me just how long the straights are on this. McLaren should be doing well, especially with that f-duct nonsense and it should suit Hamilton over Button, but I wonder if tyre wear will come into it? Let's hope for a good race, and not another snorathon like Bahrain.

Morning folks. From the times in FP3 it looks like McLaren and Red Bull still have the fastest cars here, but Ferrari seem to have cracked Alonso's set up at least, he was 4th rather than 7th like yesterday. Can't wait :)
