It's hard to tell where anyone is still, Rosberg was a regular at the top of the sheets last season never lead to much come Sunday. I think it's one to watch though, there are suggestions that it's not all peaceful between them. Seen comments that one's supposedly refusing to share data, not sure which though and Schumacher requested they swap sides in the garage which is no simple task.

For Ferrari they where supposed to be running race sims and going pretty well I think. No one seems to be predicting anything yet, qualifying could be really exciting tomorrow when we finally find it all out, shame I'll miss it. :P

Prost is going to be the ex driver with the stewards this weekend, Damon Hill will also be doing a couple this year including Monaco. Interesting to see how it will all work out, hopefully they'll be some common sense to it all this year.

I just watched both sessions and I fucking loved every minute. The McLaren looks good. Button's smooth style is still there. Ferrari didn't jump out at me. The Renault looks nice in colour but the sidepods need some logos on them. Vettel spent a good chunk of time off the track. Sutil was impressive. The new boys coped well IMO. More fell off the Lotus than the Virgin I think. Amazing scenes.

The bullshit stops tomorrow though :P

I do a prediction game with a load of mates where you have to predict the top six result. You're allowed to submit your guess after all the free practice sessions but I normally do it after FP2, this race's prediction:

1: Alonso

2: Button

3: Vettel

4: Hamilton

5: Schumacher

6: Massa

Its a total finger in the air at this point though :P

Really is quite hard as we could have a lot of potential winners this season, I just hope it does work out like that. I'd like to put Kubica in there, but no idea who he'd replace. For no particular reason I think he and Renault could have a decent season this year, not that things could really get much worse for them, but improvements on track.

How about rookie of the year? Hulkenberg, Petrov, Kobayashi, di Grassi, Senna and Chandhok. Pin and blindfold time again, Hulkenberg will be the most impressive, pushing Rubens soon, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 will be Williams' return. An honourable mention for Petrov, who will be better than expected and more than a big cheque.

Now watch them all look a complete mess in FP3/qualy tomorrow and it looking like a single team will dominate (fine if Ferrari though :P).

Williams won't be a big name while they're running a Cosworth engine.

Speaking of which, why is Williams now considered a small team? It won more championships in the last 20 years than McLaren I think, so why is McLaren this massive corporate entity and Williams an also ran?

I don't think they'll be back this year, just the case that the last few years people have claimed this is the year they'll be back and it never materializes. In terms of history and achievements they are still a big team and with Frank Williams and Patrick Head they must have two of the most respected people in F1 who also keep the link with that past. But where it counts now, money and results, they just don't have as shown by the fact they had to give a seat to Nakajima for engines.

I'd say the turning point was the split from BMW, they just couldn't come up with the money needed to compete with the manufactures. I wonder what would have happened if BMW didn't set up a team and had a partnership with Williams, as McLaren and Mercedes had until recently. I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to say Williams BMW would be a top team, competing and maybe winning championships. Think it would have been the best path for all concerned, imagine BMW would still be in the sport, hindsight is a wonderful thing. :P

They need a Smithers in there to get them back to the top.

They were barely championship contenders when they were with BMW. Good for a race win on their day but not a consistent championship threat for a period of years.

The real turning point was the horror 1998 season.

Bah. I've got no idea what my password is for the F1 Live Timing (always just used the "Well done, you've registered. Click here..." link in the confirmation email), but this year they've moved the page and the "forgot my password" emails aren't coming through :P Hopefully they'll turn up by 11...

Ah right... And I made a typo in my team name. I meant Pogocars instead of Pogovars... lol.

McLaren have a pretty nifty feature on their site; live feed of the sort of info you get as a graphic on the TV sometimes, showing the speed, acceleration %, break %, g force, revs etc of their cars. Impossible to have on screen at the same time as the live timing though (at least on this laptop screen).

I fucking hate this circuit. It's the most bland, featureless, dull, boring, inconsequential circuit of the year. Each corner br the start finish straight looks exactly the same.

And Chanderhook is out allready, should have paid the same amount as senna.....

I don't have torrent software on my mac, and have to rely on whatever Internet speed I get in my hotel, so thought this might be the best way. Wish you could have a uk citizen login to use the iplayer abroad. Might get a slingbox for future races.
