Lotus were always an underdog, short of cash when Senna and the fag money pissed off, but always able to throw a half decent car together on peanuts. They also gave the Sport Hakkinen and Herbert, and while Herbert didn't amount to much we know that Mika was destined for greater things.

I guess I'm a bit mysty eyed because I grew up in Norfolk and used to write them letters on how to get involved in motorsport, they'll probably be shit and unreliable.

It's not the real Lotus. It's just the name they've bought.

the real Lotus is doing Sports car and I think Indy has been mentioned. Anyway theres enough proper Lotus to be nostalgic about. Not this Gasgoyne vanity project. It's got Trulli driving it for Fucks sake.

It's Lotus Cars and Litespeed who are involved is mostly ex-Team Lotus.

They're reasonably Lotusish. Probably more so than the Lotus F1 of 1994 were.

It looks like I'm alone in thinking that Lotus looks really nice.

Not sure about the shape of the thing, but what can you tell about that anyway. I love the livery though. I suspect it will be the real colours simply because why would you paint a car up for a private test otherwise?

No this is basically, ex Toyota Mike Gasgoyne and chums. oh and far eastern money.

But yes credit to them, they've had less time to get their act together than the Yanks and yet here they are. English in name only though. Jonney foreigner i'm affraid.

Fucking foreigners, Formula 1 is an English sport dammit. British Bulldog forever!

not at all, but trading on a once great motorsport heritage is a bit off in my opinion. I don't mind where teams come from. As long as they don't try and misappropriate other peoples kudos.

I feel that this Gasgoyne vanity project is doing just that, as well as playing fast an lose with other peoples IP. Considering they have had less time than some of the other "new" teams to get their act together, that car looks alot like last years Force india/Toyota. Coincidence .... i think not.

Looks really good, all seems to flow really nicely into the very compact rear. Looks good from the back, reminds me a bit of a jet fighter the way it sweeps up and out. The diffuser looks quite interesting, be nice to see some closer shots of it all.

Well McLaren have their car sorted for the Rome GP should we get one, also looks like they've a nice spot to fit a machine gun on the nose cone. Maybe this will be the car that started to see Wipeout become a reality, great timing for Schumacher on his return then.

It's a nice picture, really shows how the shark fin becomes part of the rear wing, I bet the carbon fiber people had a few late nights trying to get that sorted out.

How does changing the angle on the rear wing work with the fin attached to it?

Who knows, but I wonder if the car gets rear ended does it mean the whole lots going to fall off engine cover as well??

Not sure of that raised bit by the front wheels on the redbull. Looks completely out of place, worringly newey usually knows what he's doing.
