They'd need everyone to agree to extra teams over the current 13. Which you won't get, pretty safe bet that Williams will oppose as they did with Sauber.

Williams wasn't opposing Sauber, they were opposing that mysterious Arab conglomerate that was behind the team in that incarnation.

The reason I read was they didn't think it was logistically possible to have another team, even though Bernie who sorts that had said yes. I suspect it's another team means a smaller cut of the money for them, which is understandable but not great from our viewpoint, the more teams the better.

Pit lanes not long enough?

Doesn't seem like it'd be a massive mission to deal with that though!

Could be. The rule "a maximum of 26 cars can start a race" is long standing and presumably has a practical basis, so letting in extra teams would mean some cars not getting to even start the race, which everyone already in the sport would obviously be reluctant to risk.

Popped $10 on Webber @ 15:1 for the championship. I bet that drops a lot when RB get to Jerez.

I got 20/1 a couple of weeks back

If you analyse last year, Webber would have actually been a title contender until the end if he hadn't had the mechanical failures he had (that Vettel didn't). Obviously that's a big "what if" but I think he's definitely under-estimated in the current odds.

I got 50/1 on Kobayashi as well so put an Each Way at 3 places 1/5 odds.

Hamilton at 7/2 now looks good as well, I put some on when it was 5/2 mainly out of patriotism

I don't understand how Campos are struggling to it make into this season. You would have thought that the FIA would have needed proof from a prospective new team to show they had the finances available to enter. It must make other teams who applied and did not gain FIA approval, like Prodrive, pretty narked off.

It would be a shame if they don't make it as I really want to see a throwback to the good old days with 26 plus cars on the track.

They had the finance, then after their entry was accepted the finance changed from £40m to "Whatever Ferrari wants to spend".

Well i had Campos in there rather then the (wurth/manor racing) Virgin effort. But it's pretty much what i expected.

Though USFoff still say they're coming to the party. After all you can't have a party without some of those little toasted bread things to put bits of smoked samon on, can you.

It's all Ferrari's fault. ^_^ If the teams had the finance in place for the budget cap then they'd still be fine, Virgin have said they'll be sticking to the £40m budget and they're progressing well so far. USF1 announced their intentions a year ago to enter F1, before the budget cap, so if they can't get the finances together in a year they've nobody else to blame but themselves. Has anyone been reading the USF1 thread on the Autosport forum? There's a poster, CompositeKen, claiming that they work for USF1, they could of course just be an elaborate troll, but damning if not.

Hell of an insight if true, but like you say, I suspect Troll.

Man that car looks dire. It looks like it's straight out of 1997! (I'm talking about the car here, not the livery, which I think is actually rather nice, although Autosport suggests it might just be for testing with a different sponsor based livery for the races).

What's with that stubby nose? I dunno, maybe the photo is just at an odd angle or something.

They made a car that looks different from the rest of them. This I applaud. A bunch of turnip farmers got a car together instead of the sceptics, another tick in the box for the man in his garden shed. I'll put some money on it being half fast too.

If only it was the turnip farmers. They have nothing what so ever to do with this. Much to their anoyance too.

No this is basically, ex Toyota Mike Gasgoyne and chums. oh and far eastern money.

But yes credit to them, they've had less time to get their act together than the Yanks and yet here they are. English in name only though. Jonney foreigner i'm affraid.

Well... no.

They're based in England. It's designed by English people. It's built by English people. In England. It's owned by a Malaysian company.

Admitedly they intend to move to a factory in Malaysia in the future but right now it's in Norfolk.
