I think most teams will go with the nose cone design as per Redbull last year (raised areas that run along the top). Front wing end plates get ever more complex too.

It looks a little longer I guess (bigger fuel tank) but not really noticeably so.

The front and rear wings are from last years car. The car is longer, looks like a noticeable increase in the wheelbase from the comparison shots. I quite like it, but the white does seem to show off how wide the front wing is, I doubt we'll be looking back at these cars in 10/20 years time and calling them classics.

Sorry, but the front AND rear wings are totally different on the two cars showing in the comparison shots.

But those are the 2009 launch shots, so the first versions of the wings. Look at the Monaco shot and they look similar to the ones on this years launch shots.

Yeah, apart from the new teams they'll all have last years wings on the cars (and the new teams wont have completed items). We wont see a clear picture until testing starts, and we wont see everything until the first race. The teams are holding their cards close to their chest, everyone is looking for this years double diffuser!

Everyone seen the changes to the Bahrain layout? Here is hoping it improves the show...

Also, the A1GP guy is getting linked with Campos more and more. Let's hope he can keep the team alive, I'm looking forward to this busy grid!

Have to say, hats off to Lotus. Very late entry but they appear to be making a pretty good job of it in that they seem to actually know what they're doing...

Look how deep that groove is on the top of the cockpit. Horrible. Looks like it would just channel air at the driver's head.

Or looking at it another way, they've built the sides up to help push the air over the top, but left the centre low so the driver still see where he's going

I figured it was to channel more air into the overhead inlet? Still looks horrible though.

Hamilton's dad to run 2009 spec cars for rookies

Pretty awesome if true. Really good idea.

He fancies himself as the next Bernie Ecclestone and is starting to develop his own series?

Head on comparison, can see what the nose is like.

Brief explanation on the nose from someone on F1Technical.net.

I think we have a new to term to apply here. this is how Red Bull laid the nose out on their RB5, its what Newey calls a "V" nose, which is a workaround the minimum cross section rules for the nose box. basically the sides of the rectangular nose are raised up (hence the humps on the top of the nose) and thus theres a drooped bottom to the nose. This is an aero thing, to get more flow between the front tyres, but has the advantage of making the lower wishbones longer for less equal lengths which is better for camber gain. we're going to see this on several new cars

Is that picture out of whack, or is the new wing a foot lower than last years car.

It's so hard to tell if they've done a Mercades and jusat coloured up bits of last years car with the new livery.

I can't wait until Monday for the testing to get underway. Do we know whos going to be at the first test ? all the old lags and none of the new boys i assume.

aaaah her we go from James Allen.

The Valencia test runs from February 1-3 at the Riccardo Tormo circuit, which is not the same as the street circuit used for the F1 Grand Prix. A one day pass for the grandstands is only €10.

Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg will drive the new Mercedes car and there will also be the new car from McLaren, with Gary Paffett driving on the first day, Lewis Hamilton the second day and Jenson Button on Day 3. Ferrari will be there with Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso, as will BMW Sauber with Pedro de la Rosa and Kamui Kobayashi.

Williams will be there from the start of the test with Rubens Barrichello, who will drive days one and two and Nico Hulkenberg, who will drive on day three. This will be a return to the track for Cosworth engines after a three year absence.

The new Renault car will be launched on Sunday and should be out on track next week, with Robert Kubica at the wheel and it looks increasingly likely that Vitaly Petrov will be the other driver. Kubica is likely to be given the lion’s share of the testing time, to maximise performance development. Meanwhile Toro Rosso launch their car on 1 February and will have Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari on track in Valencia.

It's going to be a busy weekend for the F1 watchers :eyebrows: I'm genuinley excited about the off season this year.

The car is longer so rear wing will seem a little lower, not much of a comparison for the wings, but gives a decent view of what they've done with the nose and side pods.

McLaren launch will be streamed live tomorrow at 11.

Hadn't seen they'd started work at Silverstone, certainly looking serious about it. I'm glad they've knocked down all the stands on the start straight, last time I was there I thought it really could do with knocking down and tarmacking over just to neaten it up. Shame the old foot bridge has gone though, used to love that.
