it used to brighten up a race watching them sprint back to the pits to jump into the spare - it should definitely come back.

It's not compatible with the reduced costs though, and would only benefit the bigger teams.

I'm surprised that Heidfeld is opting to be a reserve/test driver at Mercedes rather than go for a full-time drive at one of the other teams..

well judging by the pic here, the car is either HUGE or they hired a midget to drive... The driver can't even see out...

They're just copying Ferrari, midgets are clearly this seasons DDD. :hat:

Some pictures of the Mercedes, little easier to see it. Looks quite nice, still need to see it in natural light though, hopefully it won't end up looking close to the white cars on TV. The cars do look better without those awful wheel covers.

James Allen put a story up yesterday where he says that Massa did a time in the 1 min 18s last week:

"Rossi lapped Barcelona in 1m 21.9 seconds, in a 2008 car with 2009 tyres. The following day Massa put the performance in context when he went almost three seconds faster, setting a time in the 1m 18s."

It's the first place I've seen mention of what Massa's time was, so thought it was worth a mention. If it's true that he was running with a lower downforce setup to better emulate the 09-10 reg cars then he's probably more like 5s faster than Rossi was. Full story is here

Gives a better impression overall of the colour, I do like that the nose is just bare carbon fibre. I think it actually looks really good viewing the close up shots, I like how they've blended the colours and the different effects they've used. Not sure how the subtlety will transfer to TV but it feels like a race car, not a glorified advertising board like the Renault or the designed for TV time Toyota.

Its not a patch on the Brawn car which always looked so nice especially at the start of last season when Jenson's helmet just matched it so perfectly.

I thought the Brawn was awful, just seemed the case that a livery was an unnecessary expense, which in fairness to them it probably was. But it felt like a missed opportunity, you've got a blank car that you can do whatever you want with, as no sponsor colours you've got to satisfy as was the problem with the Renault.

Looks like the points system could be tweaked again, finally a bigger point gap between first and second.
