It looks shit but I don't suppose there's much else you could do with it. The only place you could expand outwards cheaply is to turn left at Chapel and come back in at Stowe. There are certain visual features that need to remain though. The drag down to Stowe is one, and that shot of the cars entering Copse is noticeably Silverstone.

At least there might be some overtaking into Brooklands, but at the expense of Bridge.

Still, I'm dismayed at the constant desire to put slow corners on GP circuits :(

Last time I went was '05 and sat at Bridge - it was fucking excellent, but heres a tip - take a radio so you can tune in to 5live for the commentary otherwise you wont have a clue who's in what position. Or who wins unless you're on the start finish line.

My mate wants to sit at Copse again but I've done that before. I quite like Luffield when the GT is on, but he was there last year and said he preferred Copse! What's it like having a standard ticket and wondering about?

When I went (back in 91 :blah: ) There was a big timing board with the positions at Becketts. As long as number 5 was at the top I was happy :)

i'm resigned to the fact i won't see a huge amount, but i've never been to a F1 race before, so it's all about the sights, sound and smell for me, then i'll actually watch it when i get home.

This x1,000,000

Nothing at all compares to the noise of a F1 car a full chat.

I'd also recommend the FIA GT at Silverstone in May even if just for the sound of the GT1 cars. Different configs mean they all sound different. Unfortunately there's no Corvette this year, but the Ford GT is an even more raucous sounding V8 which tends to bang flames on gearchanges more than the others! Even better though is they're fielding a Murcielago again, that thing roars towards you then screams away like a banshee

It's about £20 and you can wonder around the whole circuit and sit in whatever stands you like!

Edit: Just read that Chevrolet are trying to get in again :D

If it's not raining (and I've probably jinxed it!) I'll be taking a netbook and having the Live Timing up.

Those GT1 Corvettes are amazing, they just drown everything out even if it is someone shouting in your ear, I love them. I do hope they're there again this year, though I think the cars will be more like the GT2 spec which doesn't sound as good the GT1. The Murcielago is gorgeous, best sounding of the GT1 cars. It's great to stand on the Bridge to listen and feel them scream under you, did that the other year with the F3000 support race, they where amazing.

The FIA GT really is a good day out, would recommend it, especially as you can wonder around the paddock. This year ended up wondering into one of the garages as the team owner was giving a talk to his guests, really interesting and nobody says anything. Just hope it's the same this year and doesn't change with the big changes to the series.

Alternatively, the LMS race in september this year. Will be part of the new intercontinental endurance challange. So Audi will be there along with the Astons and hopefully the Peugoet team too. Watching a herd of LMP1 cars charging into Copse at full tilt, then changing direction is somethign to behold.

Yeah unfortunately you just can't capture that sound in a recording in a way that makes it sound like real life, because it vibrates and distorts in your brain case :D

I stood at Bridge watching F1 cars go past and the sound just sends shivers down your spine every time. You'd think after a while you'd get used to it but you never do.

Every year at the GT1 it surprises me just how loud they are, it seems like something that size couldn't possibly need to be that loud, but it is, and it's awesome :D

Last time I saw an F1 car being driven in anger was a Williams at Kemble airfield. There simply isn't a TV/cinema setup that can recreate the air being punched out of your lungs when an F1 car changes through the gears. The ear piercing shree of an F1 car at full chat changing direction going into copse corner is a sight that no male in the uk should miss. It defies all logic.

Try being stood in the garage beside the mechanic with the starter motor. Your whole body vibrates uncontrollably. It's SO loud. Irvine blipped the throttle hard about 6 times before trundling out too.

I miss working with Jaguar Racing.... * sigh *

In other news, Rosberg's been saying he wouldn't mind Schu as his team mate. Makes total sense, it's a no loose scenario for him.

1. He gets blown away. Big deal, its Schuey in the other car FFS what did you think would happen?!

2. He has the upper hand - his stock rises immeasurably. He's beating a legend.

Obviously there plenty of shades of grey in between, but you get the idea.
