So where is Kamui Kobayashi going to be driving next season then?

No announcements yet and the seats are steadily being taken.

BrawnBenz anyone, or perhaps Renault?

What is for sure is that the whole of F1 saw how good he was over his first two F1 weekends.

So someone must give him a job soon. Even if it is just 3rd driver.

Agreed.

1. Vettel

2. Hamilton

3. Massa/Alonso

I fear there's a risk that Button may make Kovalinen look not so crap, although it won't be so apparent without fuel strategies coming in to play.

Agree with that.... Well maybe switch Hamilton and Vettel.Hopefully it'll be a close season.

Bruno Senna will be shit, at best running in the middle of the pack but nothing more. If Campos even make it.

Donington in administration :(Thier site

It's not Donnington the circuit, it's Donnington the company that rents the circuit at the moment.

This is actually a good thing, gets their incompetent grubby little hands away from it.

If they're not bought the lease goes back to the company that owns and operated the circuit until 2007.

True but it's a lot for someone to pick up and try and run with. Apparently theres lots of letters going out to event operaters & racing clubs saying the circuit can't accomodate thier meeting in 2010.

UK motorsport needs Donington, it's such an challenge, especially for bikes.

But having a circuit that's a challenge for bikes is no good, the challenge needs to be across the board, and by the way, anyone buying it has got to put it all back together again.

A hell of a job, requiring vast amounts of coin.

just been reading about Kimi possibly going to Brawn........

First time I've not liked Brawn. Button showed tremendous loyalty to them, and it's the team's own fault that he's moved to McLaren.

Yeah, I have a feeling that a lot of the Brawn fanbase, that developed this year, are about to piss off. First the selling of the company to Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes having a massive say in who should be driving (I still think it will be an all German driver line-up, although the negative feedback from the general public might change their minds), and now this. It's maybe too much of a change from the "lovable underdogs" to the "all destroying Evil Empire", or something, but they've certainly lost that "something" since it was obvious that Mercedes were to have a controlling say in the day to day running of the company.

And it's not as if Mercedes are short of a bob, or two. They could easily have matched what Button was asking for- who was a driver who took a massive pay cut this year, when the times were hard, and won the drivers and constructors championship (with more than a little help from old Rubinio) for Brawn.

Mercedes had decided that Rosberg was going to be there, irrespective of if Rubens had won the championship, and were probably expecting Button to stick with them. Except he's told them to stick it and managed to get a move to a constructor that will be a serious contendor for both the drivers, and constructors, championship next year.

So, I understand why they're a bit pissed off... but it's their own fault really. Since Mercedes has been involved, things have started to go a bit smelly....

no worries, they just want to get their PR out of him. I think most teams would do the same if they'd just lost the world champion.

storm in a tea cup. Renault are doing pretty much the same to Alonos. No seat fitting, no appearing with Ferrari sponsors in public, no wearing the team colours. It's all pretty standard i think.

It's only tail end charlies that lose their no mark drivers who don't care what they do.

Big respect for this:

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80230

He's very maturely put across the why. The fact that it might be £5 difference in salary makes no odds - the fact he can say that it wasn't for money is a big thing - perception wise for the press and the world at large to see he made his choice the 'right' way with 'correct' intentions.

Of course if he wanted some more £££ and a new challenge and Mclaren - probably the most prestigious team after Ferrari came knocking who am I or anyone else to begrudge him that. It's his life and he gets to make his own choices.

I don't think anyone would be concerned with a £5 pay cut either to be fair.

Well, maybe Rupert Murdoch.

Button is earning more of my respect now. He won the championship with a daring drive and now he's taking on Hamilton in the same car for kicks, it would seem. The only thing that worries me is that McLaren may be used to building cars that Hamilton likes, and if they do the same next year it may not suit Button.

I'm also interested to see whether Brawn's performance loss this season was down to the car not suiting the track conditions and Button's cautious approach or whether they looked at next year's car, seeing as they had a commanding lead in the championships.

Can't imagine it would happen, but who knows...

Interesting bit on Brawn/Button here;

http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2009/11/butt...getting-bitter/

Would seem he thinks that the Mclaren Car is his best chance to do well next year. This is going to be a decision which is vindicated when we the see the quality of the cars each team produces next year but on the face of it I'm inclined to agree that the Brawn won't be the fastest next year.
