What a dick. He's doing his dream job, he's accomplished his childhood dream by becoming world champion and he's demanding higher pay.

These people.

:)

At least this time he's not signing all the contracts he can, won't cost him another £20m. :)

No, i think Button is doing the right thing. (ish) You have to look at Mclaren and say they stand more chance of giving Button a back to back. They turned the last season around didn't they. They were at the back fighting Torro Rosso and Force india, for most rubbish car award. Then they're up front and winning. Whislt Brawn, tried hard to stay intouch with the Redbull.

Mclaren represent a win at all cost team, with the green backs to deliver that for them. Brawn represent a good story and a lot of team spirit, but can lighting strike twice ?

Yup. The double difuser at the start of the season gave them a huge advantage early on and they built on that.

I think if they didn't have that they'd have been somewhere near the front still but not as far ahead as they were for much of the season.

He should go to Mclaren and try to outdo Lewis.

Button has to be better off with Brawn for 2010. Probable Mercedes backing, Ross Brawn and a car that's been designed for him with mechanics who know him and how he drives. Unless he really thinks he can beat Hamilton in an unfamiliar car.

I think the only reasons he'd move to McLaren would be money and long-term outlook. Alonso probably won't do particularly well in 2010 at Ferrari, but they're still a good bet over the next 3 years.

I like Button and think it would be weird (don't know why!) and exciting to see him at Mclaren. But I think he'd struggle. I don't think he's as good as Lewis and no matter how smiley he's be on the surface about him coming, Lewis would set out to destroy him. I think he would too. Rosberg will give him a run for his money - but I'd expect Button (in 'his' team) to beat him.

I like it when things are mixed up a bit. :-)

Thing is Button can do the "safety first, pick up a few points every race" driving, which Hamilton just can't cope with. Lewis has to win every time and would rather crash than come second.

Button will never outrace Hamilton as such, but by picking up 6 points a race could end up bettering Hamilton's 10-0-10-0 point total and win the title again.

Mercedes has confirmed that Brawn will be its works team next year. Cars will be Silver Arrows. McLaren will get Merc engines to 2015

From james allen.

WOAH...

does he say anything about Button? - can't get his site up at the moment

If what the BBC is saying is true I really can't understand why Mercedes would want to take Heidfeld instead of even trying to keep the current world champion. I've always liked Mercedes but this is not endearing them to me at all.

By the way the BBC article is worded I wonder if in fact they were somehow responsible for the Button McLaren link up as well?

Ron is trying to put a positive spin on it - like there LOVING it.

"This is a win-win situation, for both McLaren and Daimler," said Dennis, who is chairman of McLaren Automotive and a founding shareholder in the McLaren Group"

Inside though I bet he's FUMING!

And in other news - how pissed off will Honda be?! It feels pretty disrespectful to Honda to sell on the team you were pretty much GIVEN so soon to another manufacturer. They've rubbed salt in an already gaping wound.

Ron will miss the german money, but not Hauge sitting too close to him on the pit wall.

Ron will get the engines for the next 5 years, no fat sweaty german telling him he wants a german driver in the car, he'll steal the world champino and the number 1 sticker from under Brawns nose.

i'm supprised that Brawn has sold the rights to his team name though, unless he wants to go down in the history books as the only constructor to win in it's only year of racing.

Two German drivers?

He said he didn't really want to call it Brawn in the first place. If you believe him!
