Button for Mclaren me thinks.

I'm beginning to think so too. He wants to stay at Brawn, but Button is probably being offered twice the salary at McLaren while Brawn are outright refusing to meet his (fairly reasonable) salary demands.

He'll want to win again. the mark of a true champion is abck to back championships. Alonso is the only Champion still on the grid to do that.

I note with interest the Big Ron has been sniffing around at Mclaren Race HQ in the lastfew days, cpouple that wioth meeting expensive friends with deep pockets in Adu Dahbi, could we be about to see the return of the God Father. A Buy out of Mercedes and Big Ron on the wall again, with the coverted No1 on his cars.

You'd need a lot of money to get that wouldn't you ;)

If Button goes to Mclaren next year it's the best chance he's got of back to back championships. I don't think Brawn will repeat the feat that they achieved early last year, and Mclaren are allready well on their way if the end of this year was anything to go buy.

Given Buttons track record with moving teams I wouldn't be surprised if he moved to McLaren only for Mercedes to buy into Brawn and then pull out of McLaren. But I think it would be his best option for next season, I've always wondered how Brawn will be able to perform long-term.

sidewaysbob, when are you going to get a new keyboard?

By the way - I did this at the weekend, massive thanks to Neal Before Zod ... kids loved it

Glad the tickets got used - instead of watching fast cars, I spent my sunday watching this:

Honestly, I'm not jealous. Really I'm not.

Brawn stopped development of the 2009 car after Turkey. They've been developing the 2010 car ever since. With Mercedes input I'm expecting them to be well up the field and fighting for wins next season. Not as dominant as the early part of this season though.

Have McL had time and resource to fully develop the 2010 car whilst they were putting so much effort into the '09 car still? Who knows. I certainly wouldn't take it for granted though that they will have the car to beat come Bahrain. Also, as is being mentioned, they may have nothing to do with Mercedes next year (more likely the year after) so a lot can change.

As much as I like Button and think he's a great driver, in the same car as Hamilton isn't the best chance he's got to win the championship again. i think they'd take far too many points off each other over the season.

Sure it's been said that the effort into developing this years car will feed into the next one as well, I'm sure they'll be some gains at least. McLaren still have two seasons left on the deal with Mercedes and I would have thought even if Mercedes got fully behind Brawn, due to the engine freeze it wouldn't have a major impact on McLaren as they still have all the knowledge and experience of working with them and the engine for a few seasons now. Still not the most settled future for McLaren would be interesting to see them become a full constructor though and run their own engines, assuming they would still be competitive. I still want to see Heidfeld in the seat, really want him to get some wins even if it is for McLaren.

Apparently the Brawn Mercedes deal is in the closing stages and could see them re-branded as the silver arrows. I think it's certainly going to be an interesting winter, will keep us going right up until Bahrain, just 121 days 1hr and 4 min, not that I'm counting at all. :(

Dear god why? We could be on the verge of loosing Truli and Heidfeld, two of the most boring drivers to ever get a seat. DON'T JINX US! Someone needs to remind both of them about the 'racing' part of their job title.

I've always liked Heidfeld, granted he's not the most exciting guy, unless his bag is about but I think he's a good driver. Certainly can't be accused of falling asleep in the races, he does actually overtake people which is a miracle today, had some good fights with Alonso in 07 as well. I do think he would be a good second driver for them, he'll push Hamilton but never so much that I think it will start to cause problems and they'll be no personality clash. Unlike Hekki I think he'd always be there or there about, should pick up race wins on his own merit and move up if Hamilton has problems, be great for them in the constructors. But I guess as Ferrari fan what I should really be saying is come on Kimi, I want to see Hamilton and Kimi falling out over who gets the last Magnum. :(
