The Formula 1 Thread

whilst it was more important from a marketing and revenue point of view, the americans, for the most part, don't give a fuck about F1.

I tried to find somewhere to watch the F1 when I was in LA. Nobody knew what it was, tried several sports bars with 20+ screens.

In San Francisco I managed to find a place in the middle of nowhere by finding an F1 meet online, they were all European or Canadian. They had laptops with live timing and all though so wasn't too bad a result.

Also Indy was a rubbish track so no big loss anyway. Bernie has said in the interviews with the BBC there will definitely be a British GP next year, though this being F1 the promises people make hold very little value. I don't think he's in as quite a strong position as he once was, so quite confident we will have a GP next year.

Ari isn't the president ;)

BBC news article

Todt's style of leadership will be similar to Mosley's and offer continuity. He will likely keep most of the current senior FIA officials in place.

Vatanen has the support of three-time F1 champion Jackie Stewart and vows to introduce a code of ethics to FIA if he wins , a clear attempt to prove his intention to clean up motor racing's premier series

Well I can see why Todt got voted in!!

I read that they've agreed to swap Brazil and Abu Dhabi around?

because the title was decided in brazil (2nd to last race), which is why they bought their way onto the last race of the calendar in the first place.

For the prestige?

Oh man, I've properly gone and jinxed us all now haven't I?

The serious answer is that Max did a lot of good for a few years and then slipped into being as corrupt and blinkered as the previous incumbent.

It's almost an argument for term limits really, if Max had gone in 2001 he'd be remembered as a visionary.

So, Donington is properly out then. But Silverstone isn't in at this point either. BRDC will only take it if there is a deal which makes financial sense, but Bernie says there will be no special deals done, no special rates for Britain.

Bernie doesn't care about black people a British Grand Prix...
