Fair play to Button. Not the most conclusive world championship victory but on the race today he showed why he deserved it.

not the most conclusive? He's won with a race in hand and a current 15 point lead! The last 2 championships have been won by a point in the last race (and the 2 before that also went to the wire).

Collecting plenty of points keeping him nicely ahead of the chasing pack...

That's the thing. He hasn't looked like picking up a win for ages, but he's scored points in every race bar Belgium, when he got taken out on the first lap. He and/or the team have been cocking it up in qualifying a lot, but his relative race pace has still been up there. There have only been two races (three with Belgium) when he's finished lower than he qualified, where Rubens has finished lower 5 times (6 with the race where he didn't finish).

I just mean the topsy turvey nature of this season. Previous years the reason it has been close is because 2 or 3 drivers have performed for most of the season and pushed each other to the end. Arguably some of the drives since Turkey haven't necessarily been World Champion performances. No doubt a lot to do with the car and maybe Button 'did' drive like a World Champion to get the points he scored.

Im not trying to take anything away from him. Fair play and Im glad he managed to pull it off.

Meh.

Well done to him, of course. I don't have anything against him (unlike that cunt Webber,) but I'm not mad about him. I find his driving very dull to watch, whereas watching Hamilton, even lapping on his own in qualifying at Hungary when he finally had a great car, is pure entertainment.

See, I was never a Prost fan or a Hill fan or anyone else who drove in that monotonously robotic manner. I like to see the odd lock-up or fishtail to show that they're on it. Senna, Mansell, Alesi, Jaques Villeneuve, Herbert, Montoya and Schumi were all my preferred drivers.

Bring on next year. Should hopefully be a closer field from the off. Hamilton should be back up top.

Anyway, well done to Brawn. Wonder if the season would have panned out any differently if Honda were still on board. Though I guess by the time Honda had bailed the car was well into development, so I guess Honda are gutted now.

David Coulthard for a 2010 F1 seat then? At the very end of the forum Jake turned to him and said something like "it's enough to make you want to drive an F1 car again" and received that cold pissed off look that he always gives EJ whilst he mumbled some vague reply.

Maybe with a new team?

Glad I'm not the only one who got that feeling from his reply.

I really should watch the forum but I despise punditry in all sports.

Kobayashi was superb - dirty, tricksy bastard, but good to watch. Loved him putting Nakajima in the wall.

He reminds me of Sato, from when he pulled a series of mental overtakes in his Super Aguri, incl. Alonso in the McLaren.

Button sums it up (with a smile): "Kobayashi is absolutely crazy, very aggressive."

I don't think so...

Tell you what though, give him a semi decent car and the freedom to race and he will single handed bring in the viewers.

He was a sensation TBH, and made Button think twice about sending one up the inside after a couple of tries.

A quick check of Wikipedia shows he's been at the sharp end of a fair few of the championships he's entered in his career, so he's absolutely no mug.

Fucking bell-end forum. Work properly, damn you!

I always don't watch it till the wednesday for a mid week fix :-) Plus the red button sux a55!!!111oneoneone

If DC gets a seat and Ant doesn't there's something wrong in the world. Plus I really enjoy the friction between DC & EJ. BBC, don't touch a thing for next year :)

Well, apart from better 3D graphics maybe :(
