He developed that Williams so he was faster in it than Senna, Mansell etc etc.

If he had only been a bit of a racer as well.

Did he? I'm sure he went from Brabham to williams in the space of two years. The Brabham was a total dog of a car as was the williams 1994, what happened in 1995? he should have walked to the title. Senna was dead after three races so that's hardly a fair yardstick and Mansell had fucked off to indycar, he was quicker in it by the fact he was still there.

He was the test driver for Williams while he was at Brabham to be fair.

JV won the world title, a feat his dad never managed.

Ah, the missing piece of the jigsaw, I wasn't aware of that. He also had the advantage of working with the best drivers of my generation, of that I am sure there is no debate. Quickest? I'm not so sure.

Damon was a test driver for Williams for nearly two years before he got a race seat with them.

He did massive test milages and really honed the cars.

Working with Adrian Newey he helped create some of the most superior F1 cars ever.

In testing he was consistently faster than Mansel, Prost and Senna.

It is this speed that got him his F1 seat when Mansell left, in preference to more experienced available F1 drivers. eg Brundle and Hakkinen.

Just look at this to see how mightily fast he was:

Talk of Damon Hill reminded me of seeing him lapped 4 times at Silverstone in 1992 in his Brabham-Judd. Ah well. Went and checked the full result of that race here. A whole 6 cars finished on the lead lap.

At least that doesn't happen any more. Whilst overtaking is still lacking at least the cars have been very very close this year, probably closer than ever before. Quali sessions with a second over the entire field are amazing.

I get sky sports F1 text updates and they text last night to say Rubens was confirmed in a Williams next year, cant find anything on the web though. Anyone heard anything?

I've heard that the deal's been done too but not on any official sites.

Also heard that Donnington has been given another extension. What a joke that's turning out to be.

Brawn Twitter mentioned it yesterday. I posted it on the last page, or possibly the one before.

The word is that it's not an extension to see if they can do it per se. It's a clause in the contract that states if any party is in breach then they have two weeks to resolve it. As both parties have signed, we have to wait. Mr Gillet just likes to spin things.

Regardless, it's shit for the fans. We normally go on sale on the friday of the previous year's GP and they do sell, even then. Let's just hope something is resolved soon.

Another 2 weeks to miss the deadline and then there will be another deadline in 2 weeks (probably). What are the odds that 3 weeks before the British GP Donnington gets another 2 week deadline :D

What's the deal with real brawn GP on Twitter? I've recently started following them and whilst they do seem to know what they're talking about I can't believe it's an employee doing it?!

The official Brawn Twitter is pretty dull really.

They say that's there's three of them tweeting on the RealBrawnGP account, all employees from Brawn.

Lots of rumors that Kimi is holding out for 25 million euros a year from McLaren.

The same as Alonso is being paid at Ferrari.

Lewis is on (reputedly) £10 million basic, but with lots of possible bonuses.

Ha! As far as I can see Mclaren hold all the cards. Who else could give him a race winning seat? At anything near that price they should tell him to GTF. After all, they don't need him.

If he want's 25m he'll have to go to Toyota.

His time would be better spent rallying, £25million, he's having a laugh.

I'm not sure... All I know is if the championship is tied up I'll be amazed. A new track in Abu Dhabi at the end of the season, expect penalties galore in Brazil to ensure the massive investment gets some value for money.

If I were a driver or in a team I'd be thoroughly depressed at the end of the season finishing there. No cocaine, no hookers/strippers and no free flowing booze to pour over said hookers/strippers. A travesty in my eyes.
