Why won't you watch the re-run?

Suzuka is one of the best circuits on the calendar!

Wife + Kids and expectations of entertainment......

I can't think of many Suzuka races I've watched I just seem to miss it. I'm also riding the quad on saturday so balance see's me foreit the race on sunday.

I love suzuka, great track captured brilliantly on F355 on the DC, hard as nails.

Kimi to open his own ice cream brand? and kids grow up wanting to be footballers? gays the lot of them.

The Force India cars are very interesting.

They have the Mercedes engine and the McLaren gearbox, so their mechanicals are the best on the grid. That engine is supposedly 30bhp up on some of its rivals.

Then they had the aero done by the legendary Jean-Claude Migeot http://www.grandprix.com/gpe/cref-migjea.html who is also now working on the new Lotus, so the car has very low drag.

This gives them a significant speed advantage on fast circuits, some of which they can trade for downforce.

However they are nowhere near as sophisticated when it comes to the suspension and to car set up. Which makes them rubbish on slow circuits where mechanical grip is needed.

This is why they can be at the front of the grid at Monza and the back of the grid at Singapore.

Suzuka is a fast circuit so expect to see the Force Indias doing well again.

Another Suzuka factor is the bravery needed to commit to very high speed bends right on the limit and whilst racing. This will favour Kimi, it always has. So, although they have stopped developing the Ferrari, expect Kimi to make it outperform.

The shippers dropped a container full of BMW F1 engines from a great height.

The way these engines have performed this season this is probably the best way to treat them.

Certainly the lack of power and repeated failures have done nothing for BMWs reputation as motor engineers.

Experience is another thing, Kimi has driven Suzuka before, Hamilton and others haven't and the weather is stopping them getting any good practice in.

Apparently it may well be dry, and I did put money on the Force Indias to finish in the top 3 as well, so maybe not so bad!

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton was fourth fastest in the afternoon and the defending world champion savoured the challenge of his first race at the famous figure-of-eight-shaped circuit.

"This is the best track I've ever driven," Hamilton said afterwards. "It's something very special for me and I had a great time today, even though it was wet.

"We didn't do much running - we weren't supposed to be running this afternoon, but I couldn't help it: I just had to go out and have a little bit of fun!

"I've heard it's going to be dry for the race, I'm just looking forward to getting out there in the dry and seeing how fast you can push around here."

No, Kimi.

I tend to defend Kimi because he seems to be misunderstood/under-rated.

And criticise Lewis to counter the mindless fanboys.

This year I am definitely hoping Button does it, and have been all season. He is a whole lot better than people give him credit for.

Here (repeated) are my thoughts on some of the drivers:

Button: Incredibly fast as he uses the maximum grip from all four tyres with his driving style. Peerless in the wet, one magazine analysed him as the fastest ever wet driver. Very rarely makes mistakes. Demon overtaker, has made 8 places in an F1 race on a number of occasions. Won all 34 races of the 1991 British Cadet Kart Championship. Likes a car to be set up to his neutral driving style. Very light and sensitive on the car.

Kimi: Certainly the fastest driver currently in F1, possibly the fastest ever. Amazingly brave. Would be 3X WDC if McLaren hadn't given him fragile cars. Won WDC in second best car. Light on tyres which can cause him tyre temperature problems. Often does fastest lap in the race.

Vettel: Very fast. Useless at overtaking and makes lots of mistakes. Over rated?

Alonso: The most complete all round driver currently in F1. Has it all. Will get good results out of a bad car. 2X WDC against Schumacher and Kimi. Massively improved a dog of a Renault over each of the last two seasons. Multiple more WDC potential at Ferrari.

Hamilton: By far the best racer currently in F1. Driving style precludes him from being truly fast. Has been favoured with the best car until this year. Did not make a poor car outperform. Rough on tyres which may cause problems with heavier cars next year. Still learning and improving rapidly. Still makes lots of mistakes.

Kubica: Very fast and a great racer. Last year was leading the WDC in an inferior car. Very rarely makes mistakes. Multiple WDC material given a good car. I think he is a better all round driver than Hamilton and is the best of the new intake.

Massa: Great technician after many years of Schumacher tutoring. Fast in the right car. Needs to lead from the front, not the best racer currently in F1.

Rubens: Jedi journeyman. Immense experience and good cars give him results. But always a natural number two driver.

I'd quite like to see Button lose it, not sure why, guess it would be more of a story than just carrying on as is.

Must be a British thing, or the fact I've been told I look like him maybe (although shouldn't that work the other way?)

I've been a big Button fan since the start of his F1 career really (try not to be a fanboy though). Same sort of age, guess I can 'relate' to him more than the others. Some people commented that I look similar too, I don't see it though.

I really want to see him win it, but I also want him to get at least one more win to really hush the doubters.

Any driver that can say this ....

"We didn't do much running - we weren't supposed to be running this afternoon, but I couldn't help it: I just had to go out and have a little bit of fun!

I am always going to be a fanboy of.

I remeber watching Prost tool round being extremely dull as he picked up points and won championchips as i slept. Then nigel turned and whinged but you never once doubted his comittment. The first race i ever went to at Brands hatch in 1986. they had to physically hold Nigle up on the podium because he was about to collapse after beating Piguet. That's the kind of racer i like. Driving down Piquet at Silvertone with a petrol gauge telling him he was empty, but still drving for the win and not settling for second. Hamiltopn catching Massa and Piquet at Hockenhiem to win the race with a handful of laps to go.

Well done to Button and all , but he doesn't excite and inspire me. He's not as dull as Trulli, he can at least turn it on when he needs to. But you can't imagine him charging from the back of the grid to claim a brilliant win .. can you.

As for Kimi. I'll agree that he's the fastest driver out there, but you always get the feeling he can't be arsed half the time. When he was with Mclaren and depreatly wanted to win the world championship he almost killed himself driving a car with a tire that could explode at any moment. He didn't give up he could have slowed down and picked up the points, but he said fuck it, let's go for the win. I'm sad becuyase i don't see that fire in his eyes any more. He looked suprised on the podium in Spa "oh ... i rememeber this, this is why is it ?"

In 2007 Massa complained that Hamilton was a dangerious driver because he overtook people. I want more dangerious drivers and the firing of Trulli for starters

if he got one more win that he really fought for i would be more than happy for him winning the championship. I agree he's not as dull as Trulli, but he's dangerously close.

Here's one for you, will Hamilton ever leave Mclaren?

I remember hearing about the hamster when Mclaren took him on in karting so he kinda owes them big style, almost in the same way I could never see Senna leaving Mclaren when he did. Look where that got him.

He's actually stated a number of times that he never will, does seem foolish but he's been groomed by them since the age of 13.

Edit: Actually never is a bit strong, he said he wants to be with McLaren for his entire F1 career
