Ing hell, what next?

I agree, it by itself will probably not be a huge problem but the knock-on effect could be. Lower cashflows were putting pressure on the sponsors in any case, now ING have basically said "WE wont sponsor cheats" the others may feel the need to do the same.

With Webber yesterday going on record saying its getting hard to defend the sport any more, after Bernies rather obvious attempt to get Flav at least to appeal to get the ban suspended or changed so they can still own QPR together, it looks like the drivers are getting rather sick of the stupidity.

Actually, with Webber being the drivers' spokesman, it is a kind of wonder he isnt screaming from the rooftops- after all Flav deliberately risked his drivers life AND the lives of the other drivers in order to fix the race.

Probably because Webber was managed by.... you guessed it... Briatore.

Another reason why he had to go.. he had way too much power.

 He's so crazy

Briatore vows to hit back and 'win'

By Michele Lostia and Pablo Elizalde Friday, September 25th 2009, 08:27 GMT

Former Renault team boss Flavio Briatore has vowed to hit back at those who "betrayed" him in the race-fixing scandal.

The Italian received an indefinite ban from Formula 1 after being found guilty of having conspired to fix the result of the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix.

Briatore will also not be allowed to participate in any FIA-sanctioned series or manage any Formula 1 drivers.

The 58-year-old, in a response to a selected group of Italian journalist, said he will eventually emerge victorious and have a "great party" to celebrate.

"I've been betrayed by my own world," Briatore was quoted as saying by the Repubblica newspaper.

"In the end I will win and, you'll see, we'll have a great party. It will be organized well and we'll invite all those people who have stayed close to me during these tough times.

"(This response) is just a matter of good manners, because I don't want to say absolutely anything. I'm not giving any quotes. I will talk only at the right time, assuming that they still allow me to talk.

"Look at the verdict the FIA has put online on Tuesday: it is not about me."

:P

Batshit crazy.

Jackie Stewart is a legend.

Though he does seem to have forgotten who Hamilton is, sure he said earlier there's good things to come from him and he just said would be good for Button to win as there's been no British champion since Hill.

Jackie Stewart is a legend.

Not according to the taxi driver I use a lot. Who said he was an absolute cunt who treated any waiting/working staff like shit (he was a barman for a lot of hospitality events).

Even if true, doesn't take away from him being a great driver, in his day. But living in Switzerland for 40 years has probably removed him quite a bit from reality....

He probably thinks Hamilton is the hired help.

I heard that, but then I think they meant one British champion following another British champion - e.g. Damon Hill after the Mansell.

I had no idea .. bloody hell the sport doesn't just need shaking up, it needs a management enema.

Webber obviosuly rates him, but I would be looking over my previous contracts!

I won't work with anyone else if I can't work with Flavio - Webber

Imagine Alex Ferguson being Theo Walcotts agent? How is it allowed in F1?

How much will this actually affect Renault? They knew ING were pulling out at the end of the year, and I'm sure they've got a pretty watertight contract, meaning that if ING walk away (which they have) then they still have to pay some sponsorship. It's not as if every single photo of a 2009 Renault is going to disappear and automagically be replaced by a new ING-less one? So ING still get some major coverage....

Anyway, I'm sure whatever they lose from ING they gain from not paying Flav.... ;-)

I would of thought that there would be a clause in ING contract that if the team's/staff's actions bring the team and therefore the sponsors in to disrepute then they can pull out without penalty.
