The Formula 1 Thread

I thought I saw a 2006 photo that matched it exactly earlier, but subsequent searches show a completely different front wing, hence me being stuck! Glad they allowed photos though (including a "get your photo taken with an F1 car!" sign out front; I saw a similarly out of date McLaren a few years ago and they had big "NO PHOTOGRAPHY" signs everywhere and a security guard hired to enforce it!

I'm sat here on my sixth whisky of the evening and just watching the old Spa races on the BBC red button dealio.

My god it looks like a fabulous place. I've never been. Even when I worked at FOM I never got to go to Spa. I've always wanted to go.

You know what? We should totally organise a rllmuk Formula 1 Thread trip to Spa next year! Come on! We've got a year to plan it.

You know it makes sense. Commmme on.

This one is listed as 2005 and is exactly the same.

But the file name mentions 2005 and 2006. I think there were quite a few aero revisions that year so it would have changed throughout. The clue is on the inboard mirrors as I think they moved to more outboard ones in 2006.

Plus, Bridgestone would want it to look as close to 2009 spec as possible so would have chosen a more simple front wing if they had options. I think it's a 2005 car.

I keep hearing rumours of Fisi driving a Ferrari at Monza, can't quite see that as true somehow!

It makes perfect sense. They are not going to get a youngish but established fast driver because they would want more than a handful of races. An unproven GP2 driver is a gamble for no reward (they don't have any seats going forward - hell they are trying to pay off Raik right now to fuck off)

Fisi can still drive, is at the end of his career (I doubt he'll be retained for 2010), would have no expectation other than a handful of races, is Italian (good for the press) and would drive his heart out. It's a great story, he always wanted to drive for Ferrari and finally gets to, right at the end.

It makes perfect sense. I hope it happens.

Not a bad idea. Spa is still pretty cheap by F1 standards too (or was last time I looked)

I went to Spa last year and watched from Eau Rouge. If you plan on staying in a hotel, start booking now as there is a massive shortage in the region when the GP rolls into town.

I'm guessing there's plenty of campsites though? For the cheapskates hardcore amongst us.

I do a top 6 prediction sweepstake with a load of guys from Prodrive for each race, my prediction for Spa is:

1. Webber

2. Hamilton

3. Vettel

4. Button

5. Raikkonen

6. Barrichello

I did shit last week (only got Alonso correct) but I'm doing ok in the overal standings. Come on Webbo!
