Sorry but I really hate Ferrari. There always feels like there is something that detracts from their wins, in this case that questionable radio message to a Ferrari customer team.

How about the fact that they get more money than all of the other teams by default and constantly play politics to retain that advantage? Every victory is pyrrhic victory.

Am I the only one that was really happy to see Alonso win? The radio messages are irrelevant, that was an amazing drive to get that car to victory, it wouldn't have happened if it had been dry but you just gotta deal with the hand you're given and McLaren certainly didn't do that today.

Or the Merc.

Here's hoping for more variety in race weather throughout the season though, performance differentials seem even more pronounced this year in the wet.

No-one's denying Alonso did a brilliant job in a sort of shit car (that or Massa really exaggerates it). But Perez was better until he was told to play safe. Note the radio order didn't come at any time during the 40+ laps he was behind, they could have told him to be safe then (he was already 7 seconds ahead of Hamilton), but that wouldn't have allowed Perez to show the world he really would have won, with ease, without the politics. That chase has shown Ferrari that Perez is ready for bigger things, and not just good with the tyres. As it is, Perez has sacrificed the short term glory for a promising long term future at Ferrari, which you really can't fault as it's his career after all, just a bummer for the audience.

Put your tin hat away!

Saying the off was deliberate is tin hat.

Saying Ferrari would throw their weight around regarding their customer teams, as they have done many, many times over the last 15 years really, REALLY isn't.

I would, if F1 didn't already have an established history of matters outside the track ruining the actual racing.

If you want to give time away to the Ferrari you don't go on the curb on a high speed turn with gravel close by - to suggest otherwise is pretty mental.

There are literally hundreds of ways to do it, risking a DNF is not going to be high up on that list unless you are a mentalist - remember he already went off early in the race and had a few dodgy sectors in the laps catching Alonso so he was pushing the edge and he tripped over.

Sky have to interrupt interviews to play a really badly put together recap and ads.

What a joke.

It also comes across as massively rude at times when they basically just tell the person THEY'RE INTERVIEWING to stop talking.

They're just not open to an interview going anywhere interesting. They have one or two set questions and then that's it, they just send off the driver/team principal whilst they either go to a break or stumble through some analysis themselves. The latter only saved by Brundle.

Don't get the Sky bashing here at all. No doubt I'll get negged to buggery, but the truth is that Sky cover everything over the weekend. And it's all there in HD and 5.1 sound. It isn't hidden away on a red button option in SD. They stayed with the race after it over ran - no missing out on coverage because a hoard of sad bastards get upset if Eastenders doesn't start on time. Thumbs up from me as the postives far outweigh the negatives.

And to whoever said it, no you aren't alone, I was pleased to see Alonso win as well.

On another note, what the hell is going on with Kobyashi. One of the most exciting drivers (or so it seemed) to join F1 in the last few years, and he is suddenly always meandering along in the mid-field.

I said it wasn't deliberate!

However the message basically saying "Don't you dare pass him" very much was.

This!

I was gutted last year when they cut away from the Canadian GP.

This is for bob:

His post race interview smacks of the obvious though.

"I was catching Fernando and I knew I had to get him soon because I was losing my front tyres," Perez said.

He was on the more durable, fresher tyres - and still lapping a second faster - but apparently he was losing his front tyres. You know Perez, that major tyre burner. But Alonso, in the car that does wreck the tyres, suffered no loss of grip.
