Impressive 1-2 from McLaren there, and Mercedes surprising me as well! Webber's faster than Vettel! OMG.gif

We need you to record that for F1 2012!

Back to today, how about that ninth spot? It's a tight grid, but that's a hell of a gap in those circumstances (the first appreciable one) - and a bad sign when you're only just out of the grasp of your LOLsome team-mate.

What's the forecast for our next race, kiro? :D

...

Oh my, the third spot has just sunk in!

That ninth is now eighth. Is that the Kimi shuffle?

The rule for gearbox changes should penalise the team & not the driver - maybe something like 5 points taken away from the team championship points?

Dangerous, you can say that about all the rules. You'd immediately see people cheating to get the driver's championship because that's the only one anyone REALLY cares about.

It would also mean the Caterham, HRT, Marussia battle would be entirely decided on number of gearboxes used.

We're waiting behind Red Bull... hoping...

I haven't passed one of those comments but it really isn't the BBC. The Beeb team wouldn't have to do that for a start (nor be hanging a long way from the back door of a pit building  ) and as some of you have said, there's been a rapport there with the BBC. Okay, or maybe it's unbeatable submission to The Ultimate Weapon: Eddie's shirts!

It felt creepy there just now in the moments before Webber arrived and admittedly briefly sort of funny in a 'schoolboy not supposed to be there' kinda way. Brundle's 'Cameron' accent moment wasn't too bright, though he otherwise held that portion of the programme up by himself. Oh well, early days 'n' all that.

Away from that nonsense, patient a person as I am, a part of me wants a chunk of this season to fly by just to have some understanding of the performance of the various car-driver combos! To re-use a phrase, there's so much potential in a group of cars to a degree that I'm not sure I've ever seen. Sure, we've had years where drivers other than a season-leading two were in the mix and there have even been close qualifying times but this could be something more. I'll be desperately hoping that drivers can build the package they need through the season so that we truly have one to remember in the best of ways. All of those possibilities have brought F1 to my attention like it hasn't been for many years and I'd probably have to go back to the 90s to find an era that carried so much interest for me (it's weird realising how long ago that was!). Even if a driver or team dominance arises, this could be an incredible year.

We do need coverage of the action wherever it is, though. Formula One's not alone in this and I'll never understand a director's insistence to stay with a lone racer lap after lap or show the crossing of the line when there's excitement elsewhere. Time was when we had picture-in-picture for balancing this problem out! Back in the day... :blah:

Enjoying the Sky coverage today. The Ted Kravitz piece about the evolution of the RedBull exhaust was great and that short story segment from the Williams guy was nice piece of incite into the F1 world that didn't come from a press release. I'm hoping there's a lot more story pieces from behind the scenes like that.

Completely agree. Enjoyed this piece and the level of detail shown, then it returns to Simon who puts in some arsey comment about Ted getting all excited about exhausts - I love the detailed pieces from Ted and that he has genuine passion for the sport - whereas when the camera cuts round to Simon or Georgie it just feels a bit 'plastic' or forced (if you know what i mean).
