Yeah in a racing incident. In a race. Maldonado drove into him deliberately. On an out lap. Should've been thrown out for a number of races, imo. No excuses.

I agree he deserved punishment and it was riciculous behaviour, he does appear to have an attitude problem, but people use that as a stick to beat him with when he does do well.

haha, anyone notice during this Rosberg interview that Raikkonen made a bee-line for the pretty blonde|

?

Maldonado's been a giant knob before (including some incidents in GP2, and him running down a marshal at Monaco one year due to not slowing for yellows...), but today he was alright save for that shunt at the end (unless it's found out to be a car failure, which I doubt). That Williams looks like a really handy car. Senna got a bit unlucky what with being punted into the air at the start. No doubt that busted his car's floor a bit.

Alonso was pretty great today. Don't think anyone else would have gotten any more out of that car than he did.

They're saying it was won before the first corner, which I don't think is true. If so, why wasn't Lewis all over Jenson in the opening laps? And why wasn't he all over Vettel at the end instead of getting trouble from Webber? Jenson just faster than everyone else today, for the whole race...

Pre-Season Jake Humphrey said the the BBC would still have the Red Button Forum, Is that only for the BBC Races or will they have it recorded for the non-live races?

To answer my own question - I have found the answer it's recorded for the non-bbc races

Formula 1

16.00-17.00 Formula 1 Extra. Repeat of the Australian Grand Prix with post race analysis presented by Jake Humphrey.

Will have to watch it on iplayer Fa Cup football on itv

Just re-watched the Grosjean/Maldonado incident, Pastor left him very little room but he doesn't have to,he was pretty much clear through and its up to Grosjean to yield there. Very reminiscent of moves other aggressive drivers such as Hamilton, Schumacher and Alonso pull, but evidently they're "allowed" to do so.

I seem to remember these 2 getting slammed a few times by the stewards.

It'll be interested to see if the stewards have anything to say. Perhaps they may want to send a signal about the expected standard for this season.

Yeah, I didn't mean the stewards

They will get better, they have enough time to work on it - 6 years is the contract I think :(

I don't think they have an interest or any incentives to make their coverage better. Clearly, they made the decision to drive subsciptions by gaining a level of exclusivity rather than actually competing on quality.

Sky's anchor sucks. There's nobody with any charisma amongst the presenters. And why do they even have georgie thompson? What does she even do? I don't like the sky pad stuff either, didn't like it when the bbc did the same thing with brundle in a few of the f1 forums.

Looking forward to the first time the sky team & bbc team come face to face, I think the BBC are going to win they have Eddie :)

Yeah it was annoying. I don't want to watch people watching a screen, I want to watch the screen. They just wanted to show off their fancy pad thing so kept cutting back.

Think I'll pretty much only be watching the (exclusive) races themselves on Sky once the season's under-way and the initial excitement has worn off a bit.

Sky will get better, the guy is just too nervous and uncomfortable right now in the garage. Brundle is holding things together right now and the best bits are the thing they carried on from BBC last year. The forum had such a sense of ease and even in boring races the forum could still be very entertaining.

Crap analysis - I wanted to see that last lap again !!

GP2 races starting next week - I have never followed it but will this season, what's with the two races?

Wiki Quote

"On Friday, drivers have a 30-minute free practice session and a 30-minute qualifying session. The qualifying session decides the grid order for Saturday's race which has a length of 180 kilometres.

During Saturday's race, each driver has to make a pit stop in which at least two tyres have to be changed.

On Sunday there is a sprint race of 120 kilometres. The grid is decided by the Saturday result with top 8 being reversed, so the driver who finished 8th on Saturday will start from pole position and the winner will start from 8th place."

Should be interesting to see the young drivers all in the same equipment

The new Sky presenters are incredibly shit, and that woman with Davidson isn't worth being there at all. Roll on the Beeb! Sky needed to poach all the presenters to make it work.

I'll be really interested to see what the viewing figures for the BBC will be compared to the number of people who have subscribed to the Sky channel. I think the BBC will still wipe the floor with Sky.

I think this weekend will work in favour of the BBC, its only really the big F1 fans that are willing to get up at 6am for the start of the race really (I was in bed, on the laptop, I did consider watching the highlights instead but the missus had to get up for work and I start work just as the BBC's show finishes). By sticking it on in a prime-time slot the BBC will get higher figures than Sky. It's hard to judge though as I'm sure Sky will be running highlights shows etc throughout the rest of the day and indeed week.

Enjoyed the race but the build-up and post-race stuff was a bit shite. I was desperate for them to go through that last lap in detail but they did absolutely bugger all in the extra hour they had on air. Not great.

I can see myself going back to the BBC live coverage for the likes of China but then missing the commentary team of Croft and Brundle. Tricky one, although BBC HD will swing it - no F1 HD channel for us scum watching via Virgin :hmm:

For the races where both BBC & sky are live at the same time I will be watching BBC for the build up & after show/forum & sky for the actual race I think. I do really dislike Gerry Anderson though, all his analysis has been well off for me. 3 stops yeah good one, Mclaren a conservative slow car, yeah good one. Give me kravitz everytime.

Just caught up with the race, didn't wake up and decided to change my hand downloading it before BBC highlights.

Really unlucky for Grosjean, thought he was squeezed there and fancied seeing how the Lotus would do against the top cars. Raikkonen did pretty well for someone who was baffled by blue flags

Button had a pretty immaculate race, I think, great start and controlled the pace even with the safety car. Hamilton... well, he should've passed Perez earlier but he got shafted by the safety car coming out and then just didn't get stuck into Vettel. Surprised that Webber looked a lot better than the latter half of last season. Alonso for me made the most of what looks like a really shit Ferrari. Massa on the other hand has proven that he's a waste of space, there's no way he should've been that low either starting or during the race. The Saubers really threatened him and with Lotus looking like they have a decent package and Williams surprisingly holding firm (until Maldonado sneezed) Massa is really going to have his work cut out.

Felt that Senna had the worst possible race from beginning to his retirement. Looks like they've got something that isn't utter turd so hope to see him putting in the performances in qualifying that he managed last year.

All in all, a pretty decent race. I wasn't keen on Sky's coverage to be honest. Are they in charge of the cameras? They always went to duels for position a bit late and then almost missed Button crossing the line. Also I thought the formation lap stuff was utterly cringeworthy.

Also is anyone interested in me uploading the race? I got it from The Box but if you're not a member, I can put it on Dropbox if you fancy the whole race?
