So glad F1 is back!

Was going to watch it on the laptop in bed during the early hours but forgot to take it up stairs last night and couldn't remove head from pillow when the missus got up for work.

Surprised to see Kimi so far down the order, but think it was as much to do with bad timing as it was him not being too happy with certain elements of the car. The Red Bull looks a bit of a handful, although not quite as bad as the Ferrari and whilst the Mercs were quicker than they were last season you get the feeling that with their wing system in place, they're one button press away from a huge mistake in future Quali sessions.

Is Croft always this excitable?

Seems a little more excited than when he was on 5 live but maybe that's just that he's got more time to be excited without Abingdon to describe quite as much. I like him but so far he's better with his old commentary partner, now Mr SkyPad, Ant Davidson.

Surprised a few people didn't like Ben Edwards' BBC commentary; he's generally very well regarded as a commentator and to be honest I'd kind of prefer him to Crofty alongside Brundle.

Race tomorrow could be great. One thing's for sure - the Maccas are going to have to hope Grosjean keeps Schumacher off their rear wings, as with the Merc's Super DRS in action if he's anywhere near them into the DRS zone then he's going to munch them for breakfast. Will be interesting to see where Red Bull are, if Grosjean can hang around at the front, if Alonso can actually get anywhere and so on.

Interesting to see Martin Whitmarsh backing the Merc's rear wing and saying that the rest of the field are just going to have to copy it. Ross Brawn pretty much saying Red Bull are making a big song and dance about it to take focus away from their borderline exhaust system. Love a good bit of technical tit-for-tat!

I like the way Kimi is, people moan there aren't any personalities in racing anymore and then they moan when someone isn't all pleasant and media friendly like everyone else(I know a lot of people feel the problem is he doesn't have one but I think it's quite the opposite, his refusal to talk and emote is so intentional and the stories of him getting wasted about the place) What I really want is someone who's just an asshole and they can be the bad guy.

I quite liked Ben Edwards' commentary, a couple of times DC would say something that someone new to the sport wouldn't really understand and he'd try and make DC explain what he was talking about, thats one thing you need from your lead commentator on a channel like the BBC.

I didn't watch the Sky coverage this morning, but I quite liked watching the BBC highlights, purely because it trimmed down some of the down-time between quali sessions; I thought it made it more watchable in that respect, as sometimes in the past I've found the qualifying show to drag on a fair bit. I also didn't mind Edwards. He wasn't brilliant, but him and DC seemed to work quite well together, and hopefully they'll improve as time goes by.

Gonna watch it live on Sky tomorrow to compare, hopefully I shall enjoy that equally as much. Here's hoping the competition improves both offerings to make the best of the situation.

I'm hoping either Grosjean or Schumi can challenge the Mclaren's tomorrow, as it'd be nice to not to see them run away with it. I'm also interested to see how Maldanardo gets on: it would be good to see him prove a few naysayers wrong and put in a strong performance. All the cryer's of "pay driver" always seem to forget he was GP2 champion which is no mean feat, so probably not quite the mug he seemed to look like last year.

I gave in.

I just watched the 4 minute highlights from the beeb on tinternet, Edwards and Coulthard are great.

Cobbler for the win, enjoy your early morning, it's F1 in snack sized chunks for me. And I won't be getting a massive black mark against my name on mothers day either. Bonus.

It's hardly the hardest thing I've put together but still

If they'd had the old spitfire airfix set I'd have grabbed one for old time sake. Even as a model it's a bloody work of art!

Found it online here for 12.99 : http://www.bdpricemodelstoys.co.uk/model-cars/1-32/airfix-1-32-vodafone-mclaren-mercedes-airfix-model-kit-series-5-50008.html

Didn't realise it was only 17 pieces.

Worth it in your opinion??

Where have you been? I've been moaning about his smugness/slime for the past three years!

I do remember someone else saying as such (but couldn't remember who). I'm a really tolerant person and can normally ignore such things, but now that his teams car doesn't look quite so good and another team has thought of something that his teams god like designer didn't he's coming across even worse than before, and its gotten too much... even for me!
