I want Ferrari to be good this year :( - them being cack last season contributed to an overall rather dull title race. It'd be amazing if we could have Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull fighting on an equal footing this season.

With Merc GP a few seconds up the road winning everything :sherlock:

And alright, go on then!

Kiro's Friday F1 Quiz (2)

Q1: Jochen Mass won his only Grand Prix in Spain in 1975 after the race was stopped following a tragic accident. Away from that and all the related safety controversy/threats of strikes/cars getting impounded within the circuit boundaries, the race did also feature something that up to that point had never happened, and has never happened again since. What was it?

Q2: What do Ayrton Senna, Jacky Ickx, Thierry Boutsen and Jean-Pierre Beltoise have in common?

Q3: Following on from Dudley's question about teams racing under different names, can you name a driver who drove for the same team under different names, but not in consecutive seasons?

Q4: Gilles Villeneuve refused to allow his wife Joanne to wear high heeled shoes around the F1 paddock. Why?

Q5: In early 1976, Lotus and Shadow arranged a swap deal for two drivers. This even got as far as one of the teams appearing for the Brazilian Grand Prix with their 'new' driver's name on the side of the car. The deal fell through - which two drivers was this supposed to have happened with?

Q6: In the history of Formula One, fortunately only one driver has been killed at the Formula One event following one that he had won. Who was this?

Q7: "You could see he was going to be right there. He so smooth from the start. For me personally, he would have been extraordinarily successful in Formula 1. There's no doubt about that........" - Brabham's Herbie Blash regarding one of America's finest racing drivers who was seriously being considered (and tested) for a Brabham drive in 1981. Who was it?

Q8: Carlos Reutemann was known affectionately as 'Lole' by his home crowd. Why was he less than keen on this nickname?

Going to think about the others but 3 is easy.

3 - Mark Webber, Jaguar and Red Bull in separate stints. You could presumably have Fisichella for Benetton then Renault too.

As a side point for 3, Sutil of course drove for Force India under 3 separate names.

Dudley's got Q3 right. Two alternate answers could be!

Giancarlo Fisichella - Benetton (98 - 01) and Renault (05 - 07) and Nick Heidfeld - Sauber (01 - 03 and a bit of 10) and BMW (06 - 09)

True for Mr. Sutil, although he never left the team during that period ;).

John shoots, John scores! Q4 solved...

He was allegedly quite a vain person. A doctor once told him he needed reading glasses; instead he started doing eye exercises because he didn't want to wear them. He was also losing his hair and started brushing his hair to one particular side every time he took his helmet off/put his balaclava on. You can actually see him doing this in numerous videos!

My favourite driver by a long shot.

Q2: they all raced in that "opening of the new Nurburgring" race with identical mercedes? Or, they all drove the same porsche 956 at different points of it;s career.

Q7: Bobby Rahal?

Q8: It's (or sounds very similar to) a word for a part of the female anatomy

Okay, now I have spent my allotted weekly time being a football fan (ugh), here're the remaining questions and some hints!

2: Has something to do with the circumstances in which they all achieved something.

5: Their surnames both started with the same letter, and sadly they had both died in F1 accidents within two years.

6: The driver in question was English.

7: This driver is regarded as one of the finest open-wheel oval racers of all-time.

8. The name had something to do with his family.

Dudley has got Q7 right!

Here's the man himself.

RickMearsBrabham8.jpg

He was allegedly two seconds quicker than Piquet around Riverside. Sure, Nelson didn't know the track, but Mears didn't know the car...

Also, Dudley's got one half of question five correct too. Regarding Q6, the driver was pre-Clark :).
