Right, the answers to the remaining ones then!

Q1: A few people got this one: Pierluigi Martini, Toleman, Monza 1984 (DNQ). Was driving as Senna had been benched by the team for signing a Toleman contract behind their backs!

Q3: Dudley got this one - in both races the Minardi cars managed to tonk into each other on the last lap. Fittipaldi's flip at Monza was rather more spectacular, mind.

Q9 (Part a): Driver was Jean Behra - he lost his ear in a crash in 1955 and had a plastic replacement made. Pretty much like a 1950's version of Alesi - very quick, very talented but very little reward to show for it. Died in a crash during the support race for the 1959 German Grand Prix at Avus (mental that they even went there really).

Q10: Kinnunen was the last driver to wear an open-faced helmet in the F1 World Championship.

Thanks for having a go to all those who did - props to those who got stuff correct :hat:

Doh re: kinnunen.

so, the WRC clusterfuck continues as the FIA announce that the new global broadcaster and promoter for the WRC will be... No-one.

As I saw someone tweet earlier, if a rally car drifts in the forest, and nobody is there to film it, does it make a sound?...

I used to be a casual observer, now i couldn't give a fuck about rallying. No doubt I'm not in the minority here, which is a shame really. What the hell happened?

I always wanted to go and see the RAC too. It's just not sexy anymore, hasn't been for a long time. No personalities or fire breathing monster cars. Rally today is like BTCC was 3/5 years ago. At least BTCC has regained some respect, it's not like the haydays of the late 90's but it's not as crap as modern Rally either.

For me Richard Burns dying, Colin McCrae and Carlos Sainz retiring and then Seb Loeb winning every championship and just about every rally for nearly a decade combined with it hopping channels from Channel 4 to Dave to is is Men & Motors now killed all interest had in rallying.

Pinched from the Autosport forum.

Also looks like Prodrive won't be running the Mini any more, could be another team or just pull out completely. It's not looking good for the sport which is a real shame, then I look at F1 and the ugly mess yet more rule tinkering has brought us and think it's not much of a surprise, death by a thousand FIA rule changes.

Everything with MINI is still up in the air at the moment, we should find out early next week. BMW haven't put much support our way throughout the whole project, so them pulling out might not affect us too much straight away but it still puts us in a weaker position long term.

There's talk of just running as a privateer team, the lack of a promoter fucked it basically, it's hard to find sponsors if you can't guarantee global TV coverage, so BMW bailed.

It's just such a shame for the lads, it's been 2 solid years of hard graft and when it's all about to pay off, the series implodes. We'll be out in Sweden, but after that who knows.

That sounds a bit worrying hope it all works our for you. After the monty I would have thought BMW would have signed off the season, it can't be costing anywhere as near as much as the DTM championship.

I hear on the grapevine that prodrive are just about hanging on by their fingernails. There are lots of unhappy suppliers wondering if they'll get paid at all.

You would have thought judging by the crowds on the monty that WRC was alive and well. But u guess the FIA thought otherwise.

Ultimately thought I think it suffers from Citroën and loeb just winning everything. Which is a shame because I think he is a truly great driver that just doesn't have anyone to challenge him.

It's a bit of a balancing act trying to run the business whilst funding an expensive rally team at the same time, but we're in good shape. The Banbury HQ is being relocated to another much larger site in Banbury, so the future is bright in that respect.

I find the whole rallying situation an odd one, it's still such a great spectacle, regardless of who is winning. Loeb hasn't run away with it for a couple of years, he's just consistently quick and gets the results.

It's just so ironic that the most exciting WRC season in prospect for a while now may have no bloody coverage. Eurosport have proved with the IRC that live rallying coverage can work, but only because they threw their weight behind it, someone needs to do the same with WRC and quick.

Just thought I'd mention an awesome calendar I've been subscribed to for the last year or so.

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/credits-and-contacts/f1-fanatic-calendar/

It's fantastic, adds all the important F1 related dates and times to your calendar. I found it invaluable last year having the data so readily available in iCal/Google Calendar and always up to date.

The second best looking so far. I think the black makes the nose a little less ugly than it is on the Force India or Caterham.

I do have to admit something though, the Ferrari is beginning to grow on me...

With a more curved step and the livery it doesn't look as bad, still bad but more like being punched in the face instead of punched and kicked. Other than that it's hard to tell anything from the pictures really with the colour and dark lighting.

I'm looking forward to any Kimi shampoo commercials though.

I love how excited by launches folks get. Sauber posted a picture of Kobayashi staring at a digi cam display after it took a picture of the new Sauber. The image is utterly tiny, but somone's decided to hyper zoom it

Looks like a lot more colour on the car this year. God knows what that actual colour is (blue/black) - we'll find out tomorrow!

The FIA have set the maximum height of the tip of the nose lower than it has been in previous years (for safety reasons), but have not changed the height the front bulkhead can be.

Basically, the teams don't want to compromise the air flow under the car from under the nose, so they've pretty much gone with keeping the bulkhead as high as possible and gone with the step to tick the regulatory nose height rule box. McLaren have run their chassis lower than anyone else for a few years so they didn't need a step; their bulkhead height meant the progression to the front of the nose could be smooth,

I imagine they'll be looking carefully at what Red Bull have done tomorrow. Helmut Marko has said their car does have a step, but not as dramatic as Ferrari's. McLaren's solution is the result of a completely different design philosophy - a few design-minded folks have suggested it might leave them with nowhere to go if their car isn't setting the world alight. We'll have to wait and see, but I do have a strange feeling Martin Whitmarsh might have a tricky few months ahead.
