To illustrate how horrific we're talking here, her last competitive racing was in 2009.

When she finished 22nd in Formula Palmer Audi. She finished above 13th once in 8 races.

Alice Powell was in that series, she only ran 3 races. She never finished that low.

And 5th in that same championship? This lass.

Emma Kimiläinen. Where's her F1 chance? I haven't seen anything of her since thanks to lack of cash.

Also on Maria's CV? A fabulous best race finish of 18th in the WTCC. And a single 7th in a reverse grid race in Superleague formula where spinning out on lap one of the previous race meant a front row start.

You might as well put me wearing falsies in that car.

I was just trolling you. trollface.gif <-- rllmuk needs one!! :blah:

Unfortunately you trollfaced me a mere fortnight after I'd finished watching a complete set of 1988 BBC highlight shows, so I was in a surprisingly good position to guess :eyebrows:

Not... er... that I spend my time watching old F1 seasons again and again. Erm....

.. weather's turned a bit cold recently, hasn't it?

Whoa! Ferrari leave FOTA...

http://www.ferrari.com/English/Formula1/News/Headlines/Pages/111202_F1_Ferrari-leaves-FOTA.aspx

Rumour is Red Bull as well.

edit:

from GP diary twitter...

"Ferrari and Red Bull quit FOTA over the Resource Restriction Agreement meaning they can spend what they like, which they were doing anyway."

So Ferrari are pissed off with being 3rd best & want to spend their way back to the top & Red Bull want to cover what they have been doing anyway. IMHO of course.

shit, never thought they actually would.

Interesting to see how things play out over the next week or two. This is the season that keeps on giving......... well if you exclude the lack of too many interesting races :P

EDIT: According to F1 planet, its confirmed as both Red Bull and Ferrari.

So, bernie has nothing beyond 2013.....

And redbull have been saying that there's no certainty they'll remain in the sport cause it is just a 'marketing exercise' after all.

I wouldn't be getting too deep into a sky subscription if I were you.

Ferrari will continue to work with the other teams to make the current RRA, Resource Restriction Agreement, aimed at controlling costs, more effective and efficient, modifying it to make it more stringent in key areas such as aerodynamics, to rebalance some aspects such as testing and to expand it to areas currently not covered such as engines.

Formula 1, like the rest of the world in fact, is currently going through a delicate period. Ferrari wants to work with all parties for the future of a sport that expresses the highest level of motor sport technology. We must return to a situation where Formula 1 is really a test bed for advanced technological research, the results of which can be transferred to Granturismo cars. In addition, we must not forget that this sport must become more user friendly and more accessible to the general public and furthermore, it cannot be the only professional sport where it is practically impossible to do any training: the number of days of testing must be increased so that the drivers, especially the young ones who lack experience and the teams, can be adequately prepared, as well as providing more opportunities for them to come into contact with spectators and sponsors.

This all actually makes quite a lot of sense to me...

Brucie looks different in that vid!

LOL

I have been following F1 closely for a long time. I remember the Lotus 25 racing. And then the 49 coming on the scene.

Driving an F1 car takes hundreds of different skills. Different drivers are better at different aspects of the craft. This is what makes it all so fascinating. The cobbler and Jenson need specific (opposite) cars made for them. Given such a car they are both truly unbeatable. Whilst Alonso and Hamilton will nearly get the best out of anything (F1 only).

The greatest F1 driver ever, by far, is Jim Clark. He was the best at every aspect. Put him on a lawnmower and he would have beaten the other lawnmowers. He won at nearly every form of motorsport.

I lived for many years in the Jim Clark area of the Scottish borders. My landlord was Ozzie Brewis, a gentleman farmer who had raced against Clark and who was one of his greatest friends, following him to races around the world. Their farms were only a few miles apart. And when Jim raced his Talbot at circuits like Charterhall he would nearly always win, even when the competitors had far better cars.

So coming back to Kimi. He is incredibly brave, yet he is not stupid like Hamilton and Webber in having avoidable crashes. If the car doesn't break then he normally finishes the race. But the big thing is his speed through the corner (not apex speed), at this he is just frighteningly good. Just watch in slow motion as he manages the slip angle of all 4 tyres, the car physically vibrating as it loses and gains grip. He has a 7th sense and a plugged in laser gyroscope. No other current F1 driver can do this. And it is one of the most amazing sights in F1.

Now I am not a member of the Kimi fan club. I have written enough driver appraisals on this thread for everyone to realise my equity and balance. What we have with Kimi coming back is something that will make the sport a lot better and that will add to all of our entertainment. And if they give him a reasonable midfield Lotus he will get a podium during the season.

This all actually makes quite a lot of sense to me...

To me it basically reads "we're leaving but will still try to influence the teams who remain tied to the RRA so they can't spend money and fall further behind us".

Put in language to please motorsport fans, of couse.

Ferrari need to get real or just fuck right off. Funding advantages and special treatment because of "history" have no place in modern times, it's bad sport and bad anti-competitive business practice.

For every person that loves them, there's another that hates them for all of the above.
