SO many people asking me what I'll do when the BBC only have 10 F1 races in 2012. We have ALL the races on the Beeb and we'll be at them ALL

...to record a highlights package.

No reason they can't produce a good F1 Forum type show as part of that though, it'll be worth watching.

The cost saving was partly to fund their Wimbledon coverage wasn't it? It cant be cheap doing wall to wall coverage for two weeks of British players going out in the first round followed by Murray getting steamrollered by Nadal in the semi final. Not that I'm bitter.

Going racing. Fuck bernie and f1.

My son asked for a go kart for crimbo. It arrives this week. Just need to deck it out in mario kart colours for the right effect. Not sure he'll be able to reach the pedals, but at least I'll get a go.

Well it'll be more expensive for them to get there next year now the tube fares are going up.

The kartmania show is at the Ricoh area in a couple of weeks, which might be helpful for you.

Not just a channel, a whole TV provider. (Although I guess you'll be able to get it through cable as well).

Actually does anyone know what the options are? I can't get cable where I live though so presumably it's Sky satellite package or nothing. Do you basically need anything with Sky Sports package? (Not that I'd want anything else in the Sky Sports package).

If the beeb still do their amazing pre and post show - inc forum I'll be more than happy. If the can do that AND show full races time delayed rather than live I'll be ecstatic.

I'd still get sky tho probably. Try it for a month anyway - we've got virgin already so I could sign up for a month and cancel if it's shite.

I would imagine the second the credits roll on the beeb in brazil 'teh F1 on sky, all the races, all the time, every tangible mouth watering octane induced second only on cunt wipe murdochs media dominating tv empire sky sports 4!'

Or something along those lines. He'll the boys kart only liberated me of 200 notes, and I'll have my money's worth out of that bad boy.

Red Bull driver Mark Webber said: "There have been a few incidents where people have gone off because they were pushing the boundaries of using DRS.

You're an F1 driver, isn't that what you're supposed to do, the good ones at least. That was/is one of the great things about Schumacher he'd go out maybe a few spins in practice but then he knew the limits of the car and track so could get the maximum out of it.

If he was saying they want it restricted to race zones because so it's easier to set up for race conditions in practice and it's not safe to have some using it all lap and others not then fine, but this...

I imagine the saving the BBC will make will be that Sky are paying for all the race production stuff and there will not be 2 sets of crews going to every race?

I do love Marsh's mental attitude that as soon as F1 goes to Sky the spectacle will die, it will be the same but on a different channel is all.

As for how to get it and costs, depending on what channel they who it on you could get a single sky sports channel around £100 for the whole season - thats assuming its always on SS1 or SS2 with BT vision.

Me, i pay about £70/year for all the sky sports channels and espn etc, but yeah its £600/year just to watch F1

So while i don't want F1 to not be on the BBC (i often watch races at work and there is no sky at work) there are plenty of ways to watch it and not cost much, i chap at work was paying £30/month for BB and phone line, he negotiated a deal to move all services over to Sky (he had the most basic family pack) and has reduced his monthly bill had has sky sports - no interest in F1 for him but he is getting football and cricket and paying less than his previous separate way of paying for phone/bb/tv!

£24/month including BT line rental. (24Mb unlimited ADSL)

Edit: Looking at Sky website it's gonna be £44 a month to replace that before adding Sky Sports. I would get a nice Sky Plus box, but I wouldn't be able to use it with a single feed :(

Holy shit that's not even HD

Is Sky BB over ADSL? Do they replace BT line rental?

Yes they do, chappy mentioned before has a package with basic sky and sports, 20mb bb, line rental with evening and weekend free calls for something like £450/year - 50% off for 6 months then 6 months normal price - baring in mind across his 3 separate packages he was paying 800+ you can see why he was happy....

You can haggle deals with sky/virgin/bt and pay a fraction of what they list for, i have said it before in here but my sister is paying 60 odd for a full TV/Sports/Movies/BB/Tivo/2nd V+ box via Virgin - beating my deal by a big factor so when i renew i shall be getting that matched and reducing the cost of mine further!

Just specced it up:

Entertainment + Sky Sports: £30

HD: £10.25

Broadband: £7.50

Line Rental: £12.25

Total: £60 / month (£720 a year)

£432 a year more than what I pay now

Although in the first year would be more like £300 thanks to introductory offer.

Remember best deals aren't via the net, play Virgin and BT off against them over the phone and vice versa - i often get sky offering me half rice for life on the old package i had (full HD with every channel) with BB and phone all in at half price to if i go back to them!

The HD fee is a piss take, i refuse to pay it on Virgin ( i payd for it on Sky from day 1 but it should have been dropped by now, fuckers) even tho its £7 not £10 as Sky is - do you have freeview HD at the moment?

You can get SS1 or SS2 with free view on top up or via BT vision much cheaper!

If they actually said which channel F1 was going to be on it'd be interesting but my bet is it'll be on at least 3 different ones over the next year just to make sure people have to subscribe to everything.

Incidentally my monthly outgoing for broadband is £28 but that's for BT Infinity, which sky can't match so they're out for me on broadband anyway. I pay zero for TV, don't even have it connected to an aerial, I pay the TV licence and stream the tiny amount of TV I actually watch live. No phone service beyond the standard landline either, and that doesn't have anything plugged in.

Your all mad. If I paid money for the last race I'd be pissing money blindly up the wall, it was awful.

I can get satelite, but there's no broadband facility out here as I'm too far from an exchange. It's not an option to be spending that kind of money when I struggle to justify the licence fee as it stands.
