I think the modern ones look faster, especially in direction changes. There's just more movement in the old ones. In the film he does a massive tank slapper at the end of a qualifying lap to take pole. If you did that nowadays it'd be a lap time destroyed!

I imagine its the amount of downfoce that allows such amazing direction changes these days, same reason such slides ruin laps as to do so it is way over the limits of grip unlike the cars of old that were designed with much more tolerance of movement.

I need to get the Senna movie on BD, saw it at the cinema and loved it - wish TG (or anyone) would do a massive feature length show on his career/life.

I think the extended version is a far more balanced movie as it actually has the interviews from Prost (and others) which gives a less one-sided view of the man.

It's not it's the same film except you see the talking heads instead of them being played over stock footage.

But they aren't played over stock footage in the normal version. It's extra stuff. That's why the extended version is an hour longer.

what is it?

I've been talking with some people about Mclaren about some potential business in the future & the dude decided to get the above made for me. It's a 1 off personalised helmet with custom airbrushing on the back. As a huge Mclaren fan its pretty fucking incredibly awesome!

It is and it isn't. As a curio I enjoyed the 3 hour version. It's more a collection of bits than a film with a coherent story. I can totally see why they cut the talking heads, the film is waaaay better for it.

I would have preferred more from Prost though. The interviews with him in the early cut are fascinating.

I think the 'take-away' from the different versions is really quite different.

The theatrical release pretty much delivers a story of "Senna is a god, was constantly wronged by the system and Prost was a coward".

It is nearly impossible to walk away from the extended version with that impression as you actually get to hear from Prost (et al) therefore balancing out the story telling. Yes, the theatrical release is a better cut in terms of time/punch/quality of delivery but the accuracy of it's portrayal of history is biased. When you realise the Senna family had to approve the final release then you can see why it took that shape.

Not a shocker at all. 2013 could see fota kick him right in the balls. A year of shit tv figures could see the toads grasp on the sport finally expire.

Not going to happen though. TV figures are going through the roof year on year. And I'm pretty sure the Sky bollocks won't dent figures in the UK enough. I think there are too many suckers (myself included) that will pay for it.

I think Bernie will only be ousted if:

1. He is prosecuted.

2. He dies.

No Austin then it would seem next year. Is anyone surprised ?

Not really, I hope we get it though as it does look like an interesting track, especially with from the picture below. Oh well if it fails I'm sure Bernie has an exciting street circuit ready to fill his pockets and pick up some nice fish from the market for dinner.

Just watched the forum for the race. Fantastic moments there, Brundle just whipping his phone out and calling Adrian Newey... you know, because he can... Lewis pretty much laying his heart out in the middle of a packed garage... Vettel commenting on the size of Eddie's dick... and Eddie whispering sweet nothings to Lewis' mum... and only one more of this to go before Sky get their mitts on it and talk about Fernandez :(
