To be honest, it'll probably cost less money to run on a street track than to get Watkins Glen up to Code.

Thing is, these days, I'd rather F1 didn't run on some of the world's great tracks because if I ever saw the headline:

"F1 TO RACE AT WATKINS GLEN"

I'd read it as

"WATKINS GLEN TO BE RUINED BY HERMANN TILKE"

Still preferable to another race around clearly unsuited city streets. It ruined CART, it's ruining Indycar. I'd rather it not ruin F1.

Is he still being paid by Ferrari not to race and Redbull to cock around ?

Williams desperatly need the money so it's going to be either Surtil or Kimi. Paster is rolling in state money so he's safe and i think Barrichellos has burnt his bridges so the seat is available to the highest bidder right now.

As for Valencia, i just loved the detail on the building, it was so typical of a fish market.

Does anyone think we'll see a new era of racing drivers honed from the kind that raced in the 70's? If the reaper pays F1 a visit soon I can see it happening. Two of the most high profile motorsports have served up a reminder that the sport is incredibly dangerous, and it's more luck than judgement that's kept it that way. I think the current crop of F1 drivers haven't been exposed to it all, and are we wrapped up by the media in how they should be behaving.

While I question the value of a second US race, I don't mind that proposed track. it has something of Montreal about it.

It has something of the Valencia about it.

We're maybe 2 years away from the first F1 driver who wasn't BORN when Senna died.

Well schumacher obviously should go. Barrichello, Trulli and Liuzzi not far behind .. maybe Webber too, he's been shit this year.

There are a few hot shoes waiting in the wings, but apart from the Hulk *maybe* there isn't too much stella talent hanging around.

With Toyota, Porsche and maybe Honda going back to the World Endurance championship i also think there's going to be a lot less talent heading for F1 in the next few years. Sportscar racing is about to go global with money on offer from the factory teams. With two and three car squads at Le Mans, Sebring and Petite LM and potentially 5 factory teams they need at least 45 drivers with talent. How long are GP2 and super league drivers going to hang around the back of pit garages not racing when there's a championship on offer down the road.

And it's always been a place where a good F1 driver can hone their talent and get paid. Schumacher, Brundle, Herbert, Mcnish, Davidson, Webber.....

There are alot I will have missed. With F1 not being on tv as I'm used to it's getting to the point where I really couldn't give a fuck anymore. I'm watching the last few races because they are just that, the last ones I'll be watching. :coffee:

Anyone would think you have a thing about the F1 being on Sky next season Marsh!

Sportscar racing will only go global when Sky buy it, its never going to be on terrestrial and Eurosports is hardly a money spinner, F1 one always be the pinnacle and where every driver will want to be no matter what they tell you as their career progresses or doesn't....

nonsense, Shumacher has shown he still has something to bring to F1, I would argue he is being held back by the car (in qualifying) as much as anything else. He frequently finishes in the top 10, with several finishes in 4th - 6th (at least four). One of those 5th place finishes was from the back of the grid :quote:

I see where your going, but the problem is no one in the mainstream cares about sportscar racing. Nothing's going to change much there that I can see. Sportscars get jack all TV coverage and the man on the street is completely oblivious to it. There will always be a surplus of drivers to fill the seats and the cream is still going to flow to F1.
