Just ordered. Nearly finished season 6 of CSI so looking forward to starting this at the weekend.

I went through the Sopranos completely in about 6 weeks or something, it is absolutely addictive once you get a handle on who everyone is. I was a little confused by who everyone was initially

Fucking impossible to remember all of the relatively minor characters when you watch it season by season though! At least for me. Little Carmine, Jackie Jnr, etc, etc.

I know, I know - I’m totally very to the party. But I just watched the last episode yesterday on C4. Quite good telly, I thought.

Unfortunately, a few days ago I had just finished re-watching seasons 1 and 2. They are so much better than the other seasons. Eventually I think the creators just lost their head up their arses a bit. They were less interested in creating strong characters and satisfying plotlines and more focussed on producing arty shots & the music. Still great TV, but just a real shame it dipped so much.

The first three seasons really are the best, that said, it's still my favourite ever long running TV series (Band of Brothers is the best series ever IMO).

Last nights episode wasn't as action packed as the trailers or the previous episode made it out to be, but it was still bloody good. Phil finally getting whacked was the icing on the cake, it made me laugh and very happy. AJ bucking his ideas up was needed too.

The ending kind of left me thinking "Huh?", but I guess that was the whole idea really. I think it was time they ended it all, especially now most of the decent characters are (long) gone. But as therealjohnpeat says, I can now go back to the first season and watch it all over again with a fresh mind. It's been about 4 or 5 years since I've seen the earlier seasons.

Bloody good TV.

I might have liked the ending more if I hadn't pretty much seen it coming, but when they started the restaurant scene that late into the episode I said "Oh god, they're going to have some sort of shitty non-ending aren't they?", so was all set-up to be disappointed by it.

Thought the Sky+ had fucked up again for a moment there. ;)

On reflection it's a perfect ending. The missus hated it though.

Same here, especially as our freeview box is a bit dodgy and we'd already had 20 seconds of black screen earlier on in the episode.

Part of me was a bit disappointed that the ending didn't offer any 'closure' but I think that would have given a quick fix and wouldn't have been in keeping with pretty much every episode before it. The Sopranos has never pandered to its audience, it's always been about multiple stories and season-long story arcs.

It might have been that the guy at the bar came out of the loo and killed Tony only moments after the show ended. If not, there's a court case hanging over him and the fallout from Phil being killed. Business as usual, then.

Time to go back to the start. So much that I'm sure I missed first time round...

Good ending I thought. Wrapped up just enough. Would have been crap if they'd done the happy-ever-after episode. It's never been a feel good show and ending it like that would have gone against everything that went before. I did feel sad at the end knowing that I'll never see a new episode. Even the worst episodes were better than most of the shite you see on TV these days.

The complete boxset is out on the 19th of November. Really looking forward to watching the whole thing again. Was just looking at it on Play and I had to laugh:

Customers who bought The Sopranos: Complete Series Box Set (28 Discs) also bought

Daniel O'Donnell: Can You Feel The Love

Just reading about it on metacritic. Someone wrote:

Jenn P gave it a9:

Tony got whacked, or viewers could at least use their imagination. Watch the final episode again and watch for all the signs pointing to death. If you know the relationship in The Godfather between oranges and death, you will get the picture. Brilliant ending by David Chase!

Interesting.

£115 seems a bargain when you consider that Season 6 part 1 (the first half of the season) on BluRay is £55. I'd love the whole lot in hi-def but I going by that they would charge over double the cost of the DVD version.

I've just got the full box set and it basically is nothing more than all of the individual seasons on sale already placed in one very cheap black cardboard box. I had thought it would get some nice treatment like Six Feet Under or Seinfeld. So if you already have some of the seasons there's no reason to bother swapping for this set. Still a collection of some of the best TV.

So you were avidly paying attention to the timeline while you were watching the last ever Sopranos episode!? ;)

At first I didn't really like the ending, I put it back a bit thinking it skipped at first, when I realised it hadn't, I kinda' felt cheated, got me thinking about it loads.

Now I think it has to be the best ending to a TV show ever, infact The Sopranos IS the best TV show ever.

So, I just finished watching the final episode. I dipped in and out of The Sopranos when it was on Channel 4 but never really watched it properly. I've been watching it disc by disc from season one via Lovefilm and I'm truly devastated it's over.

Unbelievably good television, the likes of which will never be seen again. Nothing will ever come close to how great it was. I'm ordering the full boxset right now. The penultimate and final episodes I was shaking with fear for the most part. When Philly got popped I pumped my fist. When Paulie was about to hit the cat with the broom then switched to brushing the floor when Tony walked in I nearly pissed myself.

What was incredible was how well developed the frankly enormous supporting cast was. Like everyone I had my favourites, I loved Paulie and had a soft spot for Benny too. Always hated Artie though.

This is the shittest post ever but meh, I can't think straight my mind is rushing. I don't think Tony got killed, but that's only because I don't want to think that.

I feel your pain, brother.

I've only just this second finished The Wire, and while it's great tv, with some great po-lice, it's simply not got as many classic moments as this show does, and rarely had me desperate to watch what the cast got up to next. I'm glad it finished when it did (christ, early season 6 left me cold), but it's one of those things you'll always miss.

It's a one of a kind, and it'll never be bettered.

You motherless fucks.
