The Sopranos - Series 6

I think there have been quite a few different possible routes that the writers have hinted this could go toward the end. If I remember correctly we had the feds talking about the case they had been building up against Tony, amongst other things we've had the terrorist thing, the asbestos story (although that's probably just to show the bad blood between Tony and Phil) and the bad relationship between the jersey and NYC mobs. I watched the last few in the last couple of days and they've all been quite melancholy but quite brilliant.

Holy sheeeeet, that was great.

Next week...last one ever? ^_^

Going by last nights episode it's certainly looking like it really is the end for The Soprano's tv show. I was half expecting an open ending but that isn't looking likely.

What a fantastic episode.

I've been wondering, the way Tony settled down into the bed with his shotgun aimed towards the door, was that meant to signify that he thinks one of his own guys downstairs is working for Phil? Or am I thinking too much into it? Maybe he's just being precautious, even though he's got his entire crew below watching his back.

Amazing episode.

The sequence in the model railway shop was superb; I know Bobby was a cold-hearted killer but I felt really bad for the guy. The cutting to the train and the little model people was beautiful. Also Syl climbing into the back of his car diving for his gun with the bullets pinging around him was great.

Can’t believe there’s only one episode left.

But he wasn't. The only time he killed anyone was shown in the episode with him and Tony on the lake. Phil's crew nailed it when they said he was only Juniors driver. If he hadn't married Tony's sister, he wouldn't have been anybody.

I was surprised that Sil didn't get a better ending

Brilliant, just one more to go now :(

I think

AJ and his new anorexic chum are going to enter into a suicide pact. When Tony finds out AJ has topped himself he'll either shoot himself or be walking down the road, in a daze, when his body will jolt, in slow motion, he'll fall toward the camera to reveal the smoking gun which has just taken him out. I see no happy ending here

He shot an unarmed fella doing his laundry to appease some drug dealers and keep his brother in law happy. I know he hated doing it (amazing acting in that scene btw) but he still did it. I liked Bobby but he’s still a murdering gangster.

That wasn't a shotgun, it was the M4 laser-sighted rifle Tony received as a birthday present from Bobby, that's why T got flashbacks from the boat ride with him just before he fell asleep.

I'm really gutted it's all coming to an end =(

This is bad. I don't want the "bad" bad guys to be the ones left standing at the end if it all. I was sure I'd read somewhere that they had planned to end with this series and then maybe a movie. Guess that one is out the window

Man, in 7 days-or-less it will be like losing a chunk of your family :o

The Sopranos works on a different level to most series - it's not about what happens but more about who it happens to - the way they can weave people in and out of the story has always been amazing.

It's core tho - as I said above - remains Tony and I really, really, really can't imagine them killing him-off - but if they really are wrapping the whole thing up, it would make sense I suppose.

End of the day - everyone in the show is a badguy after-all!

If they DO kill him off tho - I suspect the HBO building will be picketted for years-to-come

p.s. In the episode where Bobby gave him the M4 - they talk about how Bobby's father was a major killer but that Bobby had never killed anyone upto that point.

This reminds me tho - what happened to the 'would-be rapper' he shot-in-the-ass? That was one of those things which just drifted-out of the story unfinished :(

That's how I feel too :(

The characters are still amazing in this, there's no clear heroes as almost everyone around Tony does good and bad things, but I really want some of them to make it to the end.

Not Phil or that Butch guy though, I fucking hate them! The bad bay guys in this rivalry. It was awful when Tony's hit went wrong, now Phil has the upper hand. Even though Bobby was in Tony's crew and murdered that guy, it was still sad to see him go. He had a new family, didn't enjoy that murder and somehow never seemed like someone who'd be targeted. Looks like Sil is out of it too then, he surely wouldn't wake up from that.

I read somewhere else that it was likely Tony was keeping an eye on the door at the end because he knew his crew could turn on him. Phil said he'd "decapitate" the family and deal with what's left, so he might offer Tony's crew a deal if they turn him in. No idea how this is going to end though....

Does anyone know

why Tony brought the crew over from Sicily to hit Phil? I was sure Furio was going to appear when Tony decided to bring them in. I thought it might have been some custom amongst the mob when it came to killing other bosses but Phil just got his regular goons to shoot Sil.

Superb episode, and like you've all said, it was incredibly tense all the way through. Plus, heavy, heavy symbolism with the way Melfi closed the door on Tony. I love the way Sopranos paints moments like that with such broad strokes. I actually thought the episode was going to end with Tony closing the door to that bedroom, to mirror that scene.

I personally don't think Tony will die, but I have no idea how else it might play out. He's lost so much in the past while that leaving him with no (mob) family and no psychiatric help may be a fate worse than death. It's all in David Chase's hands now...

I thought it was Uncle Junior's empty house, as it was on a residential street rather than surrounded by woods. I could be wrong though, it was dark....

Yes, you're right. I'm not sure what I was thinking of.

Anyways. Was reading this article just now, it's excellent. 100% up to date as well:
