The Sopranos - Series 6

What about when he almost killed Junior earlier in the series?

It's not as if he had any real part in what happened though, he was mostly a spectator.

Completely forgot about that, yeah that was stupid too, but more understandable in the circumstances.

He had enough of an involvement for me to wonder what the hell is happening to the mature AJ that's come about in the second half of this season. I found his acceptance of what was going on hard to take.

I really hope it wasn't - the thought of AJ heading in that direction is really depressing.

So many possibilities for the last few episodes, can't wait to see this play out.

Me too. I don't think it was particulary out of character, but I kind of hope AJ gets his life back on track and finds something he wants to do (not the mafia), which might make Tony realise AJ isn't destined to follow his dad into the mob, like Tony seemed to be with his own dad. Then Tony might give it all up by the end and retire, which could be better than a shootout ending or AJ getting brought into the business.

As for that scene, the HBO episode guide says "AJ goes along, both excited and repelled by his participation" so it must have been a bit of both.

I think it could go either way with AJ.

Either he'll decide that he wants to join the family business or he'll have a sticky end as a result.

He obviously felt empowered by

torturing

that guy, especially after being a great big

drip

for the last few weeks.

Paulie was amazing, he's facial expression on the way over to wreck Christopher's lawn was great!

I think Christopher might be caught for killing the scriptwriter, leaving the role as a rat his only way out.

Yeah, I was grabbing a drink at that point, walked back into the room to see Paulie's face and just started laughing immediately. He's fantastic.

As for AJ, I don't think that whole scene was out of character. He has shown interest in being part of the mafia, or at the very least, using his connection to the mafia for his own good. I think what happened this episode was just an extension of that. His new friends were certainly keen to have him around and use his connections. Whether that'll lead to him becoming something more remains to be seen.

Another fantastic Dr Melfi session this episode too...

"Was I talking in my sleep"

I don't know whether to be pleased that Christopher's gone this way, could have been far more dramatic. Good to see AJ's got a conscience after all, hopefully he'll get away from those lowlifes once he comes off the anti-depressants.

Speaking of which, is Tony still on the prozac? The scenes with AJ make me wonder how much the drugs affect Tony.

Bad move mixing asbestos with ducks.

I know, I might just watch it again. Like last week's, there's just so many great little touches that contribute towards the bigger picture.

Like the shot of the baby seat with the branch sticking through it and its possible effect on Tony's intentions. Or when Tony says "this is me hanging up" and Phil beats him to it. Or Tony's hazy roulette streak. Beautifully shot as well.

Same - weird but great episode. I liked the ending.

When Chris was saying "You gotta get me outta here","I'll never pass the drug test","Call me a taxi" did he mean that straight or did he want Tony to do the deed? Seemed like Tony just decided to do it but watching it again, I thought Chris might be talking in code or something...

:P

Christopher has always been one of my favourite characters. Didn't expect that at all. After him killing the script writer I thought he was going to turn on Tony in the final episode.

Anyone know the music that was playing on and off during the car scenes in Vegas?

The only way I want it to go down now is

Tony killing off every other mob character one by one, then retiring. Basically the remaining episodes should be an increasingly rapid succession of elaborate murders. Also Tony should endeavour to injure himself in the course of each one, to avoid arousing suspicion. Actually, forget that stipulation - it should pretty much turn into Theatre of Blood with Tony as Vincent Price. There's still time.

Don't know how Tony could go back to Mafia bossing after a great psychedelic experience like that. Maybe he'll move to Thailand and do hair wraps?

Nearest I came to anything like the roulette was when I got some particularly strong skunk and kept beating my nemesis the chess champion at chess. Never did understand how that happened?

As for Christopher, what a great way for him to go. Totally unexpected. Tony was relieved? I was relieved to see that wingeing, self-obsessed creep pop his clogs. He was a great character all these years but the sentiments after his death were brilliant.

Paulies face at the wake was pure ROFLS.

One question, how does Tony get to fuck all these beautiful women?! It's one in the eye for all the slimmers of the world.

Best episode for ages.

Chris was a good guy at heart wasn't he? He was a sympathetic character I felt.

I reckon that none of the central characters will get "whacked" now. Chris was the main source of tension and I can't see the Leotardo situation going the violent route because the writers seem so hellbent on avoiding that kind of payoff.

That's the thing about Sopranos though, isn't it? I mean, none of these characters are sympathetic or likeable at the end of the day. They're all murdering assholes when it comes down to it, but by the very nature of the show, we are made to feel sympathetic for them, despite all that.

Another great episode too. So low key, and the impact of what happened(for me anyway) was much harder because of it.

Amazing. The trippy scenes were excellent; Tony is SUPERB when he's stoned. And the roulette sequences, and the ending... fuck. Profound, or something!

The Melfi dream sequence was inspired.

Best series ever.

In the world Tony is in the women love power, you can be the nastiest looking git around, but if you have a lot of money and respect the women will fall at your feet...

In Tony's world?

Tony's going down, he has to. He's built up quite a list of enemies over the years, plus the feds have been working on nailing him since day one. I don't think he'll get hit, so I'm going with the feds.
