So... Sturrock's out.

Unless Allen already has someone lined up that is quite possibly the worst decision of all time. Ever.

Christ, we're doomed.

Allen you utter, utter BASTARD.

EDIT:

CONSPIRACY ALERT: Reading the media reports on the official website it looks like Sturrock was about to permanently drop a load of players because of last nights display. Maybe Allen didn't want to foot the bill...

Anyone want to bet how long it will take for Nigel Worthington rumours to appear?

Now usually I'd say no way would any talk be made since Sturrock got a contract renewel, but you never know...

I hate to bring it up, but no doubt some theories may come out that he's got Worthington lined up.

In spite of strengthening the squad this year, we have not made the desired progress and, to that end, we need a change in the coaching staff."

Hmm, yes you splashed out a load of cash for that didn't you. You get cheap/freebie players and you see why some of them are free/cheap.

Time to go now Allen. Sell up to someone who gives a shit.

Oh for fucksake.

I've seen nothing wrong with the players signed - they all seem quite good really - but they were never, ever going to make a vast difference. Hell, signing e'too and 2 others wouldn't have made a vast difference.

Paul Sturrock is as close as we've come to having a manager that can cope with the burdens of SWFC.

Chances of staying up now? Nil.

There's 3 clear facts about Sheffield Wednesday at the moment:

The fans loved Sturrock.

The players loved Sturrock.

The fans hate Dave Allen, now even moreso.

It's still not sunk in that he's gone, what a legend.

EDIT:

Oh, and it's obvious Paul loves the club too - I don't think you could say the same about Allen.

I'm getting ever so slightly pissed off now. I really don't see what Sturrock was supposed to do. The players aren't very good and half of them have been injured for most of this season.

What's that now - ten managers in ten seasons? It's obviously escaped Allen's attention that sacking the previous nine has done sod-all good. We can't afford to go down again, but now it looks a distinct possibility.

In a word: bollocks!

How can we not go down? We're already teetering with the best manager we've had since...well 1993, really.

Who is going to want to join a sinking ship with no transfer funds to alter anything with the only option left being altering man-management (and to a lesser extent tactics - there's not exactly a big enough squad to make vast changes) when they were previously being man-managed by a guy that saved them from League 1 obscurity and clearly loved the team?

It's utterly, utterly insane.

And that's without mentioning that they've probably spunked enough money on giving him a four-year contract and then firing him to get a player to help us out. In-fucking-sane.

I'm going to be really disappointed if there isn't a mass demonstration tomorrow. I'm still clinging onto being able to get Sturrock back if we oust the board somehow.

I'm still really fucking angry at the decision, it makes no logical sense at all - even without the 4-year contract given to him last month.

So there was a demonstration then. Too bloody right!

And we won! Almost fucked it up mind, but scraped home in the end. Has anyone else noticed that every time we're one goal up coming into the closing minutes, we ALWAYS seem to be involved in the last match to finish? Sitting there, waiting for the vidiprinter to come up with a late equaliser for the opposition. It's hell.

To be fair, you only had about 2 shots in the entire match!

And even then, one of them came from an advantage played to us by the referee, great decision that one ref! The other came from a defensive mix up as well.

Best performance of the season that. We should have had 4 or 5 really, how MacLean put it over from 6 yards I'll never know. Tudgay was immense.

We've got Laws then, yay :(

No offence to the guy but his career so far doesn't show him as a better manager than Sturrock - not even close.

Dave Allen said he wanted either an ex Wednesday player or someone with experience of getting a team out of the Championship and into the Premier. Brian Laws isn't either of those, great choice Dave!

With the run of form we've been having I don't see why we need a new manager, really.

I'm still incredibly annoyed at Sturrock going but with the team getting these kinds of results it makes you wonder why Laws is better than our acting-manager.

Not impressed with Laws either, doesn't fit the criteria Allen had. Although hes "from the Brian Clough camp" so that can't be bad. :) I'll be generous and give him 10 months.

Anyone heard the rumour of that clause in Sturrock's contract with Swindon? The one that supposedly allows him to return to us if we want him again.

That's not a rumour. Sturrock was on the radio a week or so ago stating that whoever he signed for next he'd make sure there was a clause in the contract if "one club" came in for him. He didn't actually say who that "one club" was, but it's not hard to have a good guess.

What did Allan say? He has given him 2 and a half years to get us in the Prem.

So that's mid table this year, maybe a play off push next season and if we fail.. he's expecting automatic the year after. If only it was that easy.

Well, Laws won't be here for long then.

Well, I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said. So I'll just COMMANDO RECAP, as if everyone really cares about my opinion.

Tudgay is playing a blinder. Burton has Premiership touch. Lunt looks 10 times the player BOB is. Sturrock will be sorely missed. Swindon will be in League One next season. We may meet them. Laws should be given a chance. Allen should die. Um...think that's it!

BREAKING NEWS!

Owls sign Shwan Jalal, a 23 year old Baghdadian keeper, on a loan deal with a view to a permanent. One for the laydeez.

And Wayne Andrews, from Coventry until Jan 1st as cover for the banned (and soon to be injured due to an Op) Small, who Ian Dowie said this about last year: "His attributes are very good - he is good in the air, very, very quick when you hit the ball right at feet. He just needs to concentrate on the build-up play." Let's hope he has by now!

Well going on Saturday's performance he seems to have zero confidence in himself. Not once did he seem comfortable with the ball and he seemed to want to avoid having possession rather than asking for it.

Not too bad when he gets his head down and runs , not quite as much a threat as Small though.

All in all, we can't really complain with a point and a clean sheet against the top of the table on both points and goals scored.

Bloody brilliant!

Didn't Laws say they've been practising long range shots on the Thursday or something? He's found the key to management: just get your players twatting the ball from miles out at every available opportunity. Flawless.

Has anyone else noticed how we keep getting incredibly close to the top half without ever quite managing it? One sodding goal this time. No doubt we'll get a spanking at Norwich and fail to reach the dizzy heights yet again. And yes, my glass is always half empty where Wednesday are concerned.

Let's just hope Hills is fit, or Huckerby plays in the left and is up against Simek. Because if he's running at Spurr for 90, we're in for a bad day at the office.

I'm a-waiting for this bubble to burst!

And it has to be posted again: 3 out of the 4 goals are Goal Of The Month contenders. But Whelan's on 2:27....wow.
