So are Spurs fans behind AVB now? There were quite a few negatrons earlier in the season, although 606 features little else. He seems to be doing an excellent job considering he's only been there half a season.

I'm really pleased to see him doing well as I thought his treatment in the press was pretty crappy and there desperation to see him fail quite sad - no doubt heightened by their love of 'Arry.

I was always behind him as evidenced in here and as above he is doing better than 'Arry with 5 players out and the loss of creative midfielders - he seems to have kept the attacking style but given us some more discipline. He seems a great character and its nice to have a less controversial character at times but 'Arry did do a great job for us - looking forward to seeing what AVB does within the transfer window!

I think everyone who posts regularly in this thread was behind him. I made a few #AVBout gags and things on twitter, may have done so on here a couple of times but when being genuine I totally support him.

Because he is handsome and has a cool raincoat and nice hair :wub:

Yeah, I was behind him from the start, and even more so now. Mainly because he appears to be such a nice man, and what he was doing at Chelsea made sense, and I still think he had a hand in the the team that won the CL.

This time last year, when 'Arry started not rotating the squad, playing Bale in strange positions, and generally not having a plan-B against weaker teams, I started to wonder about him, but still loved him. When he was sacked, I was gutted, but excited about AVB since I believe he is true class and we could be very lucky to have him,

So far he has given us confidence in the last third of the game... The silly old 'typical Spurs' mistakes are slowly leaving us, and the way we persevered and didn't roll over to Man U on Sunday to snatch a late equaliser shows how far we've come.

Good to have a German at the Lane again. They can't help but become fan favourites! (2 out 3 isn't bad, I liked Ziege anyway).

Fingers crossed Levy pulls a coup on Thursday and gets in a striker. It's all gone a bit quiet on the Damiao front - calm before the storm? :P

We're being linked with Gary Hooper. While it would be a great story, a kid not making it as a teenager but putting the hours in at non-league level before returning after a stint at the Scottish champions, I can't see him really being an upgrade on what we have.

I've only seen him in the Champions League where he looked sharp enough when called on, but I know his goal record in the SPL is great. But then so was Kris Boyd's. On the other hand so was Jelavic's. Hmm. He'd be a far cheaper option than anyone else. Get him in as cover for the season and wait for a truly great striker to become available?

I'm not sure if he'd count as a homegrown talent as he never signed a professional contract with the club as a kid. But if he does then that could always be a plus if the team is in the champions league next season.

I'm worried about Defoe, either this 'minor' injury he has could either affect his performances, or even worse him actually playing. I've not been a fan of Ade so far this season, and Dempsey has his place put he's not a week-in-week-out number 10.

:lol: I didn't realise Chelsea drew with Reading! I turned off the TV when the 19:45 games finished. Amazing result, nice on Royals!

It sounds like Holtby had a good debut, hopefully he can start at the weekend and we can start enjoying a bit of craft in the middle again. Likewise I am amazed he didn't come on earlier, especially as it sounded like AVB was fed up with Dempsey at halftime when he shunted him out wide and tried Bale in behind Defoe.

Some bright spark on twitter pointing out that Brazil is a ten hour flight and he'd need to have a medical when he arrives leaving very little time for a deal to actually be agreed and so it just isn't realistic.

Unless something completely mad happens, like he has a medical on the plane...

Dempsey was utterly shite yesterday, mind Parker wasn't far behind him for worst player on tr pitch - Norwich deserved to be 1-0 up at half time and really shoulda been 2!

Holtby looked class and his flick that Bale ran onto and score was great, we had great seats and the goal looked amazing! A point saved rather than 2 dropped on the night as for 70mins spurs did nothing.

Yeah, I think this deal would have been done much earlier if they were actually going to get him.
