Does spurs squad have many players going to the africa cup? That seems to have been what's spiked city atm.

Luckily Adebayor has retired from International football, and Benoit Assou-Ekotto & Bassong are both from Cameroon who failed to qualify.

We just need another striker and pacey cover for the wings.

We dont need another CB as Cahill or Samba are no better than Kaboul and Dawson anyway. We also have Caulker back for next season who is going to be King's long term replacement anyway.

We have plenty of cash as along with Arsenal we are the only team in the league that makes a profit .

Stories today that Bassong may be looking to move in the window as he's not getting first team football. Even if he does I think, as Charliemouse said, there's probably enough cover there anyway. It's a consistent, proven goalscorer that's priority I think.

Good news about the stadium today:

http://www.bbc.co.uk...london-16810475

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has confirmed it will stay in the area after funding pledges from Haringey Council and the London Mayor.

Subject to approval, Haringey will invest £9m and Boris Johnson has committed £18m for mass regeneration.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said public funding strengthened the club's ability to deliver a new stadium scheme.

Last year, the club abandoned plans to move to the Olympic Stadium after the Games.

Spurs has committed to progressing the Northumberland Development Project (NDP), which could bring a modern football stadium, new homes, shops and leisure facilities to Tottenham.

'Maximise regeneration'

Mr Levy said: "As a major employer and business in the area we are delighted with this commitments from the mayor and Haringey Council.

"We have long said we could only invest in the area if we could see our commitment supported by others and there was a real need to maximise the regeneration benefits and lift the wider area."

The Mayor of London said: "I am committed to securing Tottenham's long-term future and the time has come for Spurs to show its commitment to the area by investing with urgency and determination to deliver the jobs and growth desperately needed in this much neglected part of our city."

Mr Johnson, through the Mayor's Regeneration Fund, is making other money available to help with regeneration projects in the wider Tottenham area, including £4.5m for an employment and skills programme and £4m to help buy key sites to bring forward for development on the High Road and Tottenham Hale.

Tottenham MP David Lammy said: "The recession and the anaemic growth that has followed have hit this corner of north London harder than anywhere else.

'Silver bullet'

"At the moment, Tottenham has the highest number of jobseekers in London and the fourth highest in the country.

"Whilst no-one expects the new ground to be a silver bullet that will solve Tottenham's economic woes, this is certainly the most significant step yet to transform the area's future. "

Earlier this month, Spurs delisted its shares from the stock market and went into private ownership as part of its plans to raise money for a new stadium.

The club had expressed an interest in taking over the Olympic Stadium, but a legal wrangle arose after West Ham United and Newham Council were awarded the stadium to use after the 2012 Games.

Also if you hadn't seen they've scrapped the hotel in favour of more flats and a college.

Goodbye Super Pav! I heard a rumour that he had a row with a coach that led to fisty cuffs and that's one of he reasons he has moved on.

Our new (old) striker Saha certainly knew how to score goals when he played for Fulham, maybe there was a lack of decent service at Everton. I remember Yakubu couldn't score at Everton either and all you needed to was feed the yak and he would score.

I fear we messed up a bit in the last transfer window.

What we really needed was some proper cover for the wings as if we lose Bale for any amount of time we have no one to play there at all. Loaning out Pinnear has just made the cover there even thinner. Maybe Dos Santos will get chance but Harry seems to hate playing him for some reason.

He was good at United too, i'm sure his goalscoring record was something like 1 in 2. The problem has always been injuries which (at United at least) meant he was often missing when he was most needed. Not his fault obviously but still an issue.

The Pienaar one was very odd. Yeah he's not really getting a look in, but there's a long time left of the season.

If you guys don't finish above Arsenal I won't be happy.

part of that may be that Bentley is actually recovering much quicker than anticipated, indeed he's been given a squad place! One last chance for him it appears, maybe almost having his career cut short will have woken him the hell up.

Rose is still here, but he's backup for Ekotto more than for Bale or Lennon.

It can be difficult with both of them out, but if its just one we've got players that can cope with it especially with Niko looking properly fit again for the first time in ages. I've wanted to see him, Van der Vaart & Luka playing together for ages, some of the interplay they were cooking up off of Adebayor's hold-up play was lovely and showed plenty of promise.

For a impact sub Saha is a vast improvement on Pav, who barely ever broke into a sweat in most of his appearences.

Our kids are doing well this season too. They beat Liverpool last night in that next gen cup, which is sort of like a Champions League for youth teams.

Speaking of that "NextGen" competition, Spurs have just withdrawn due to some breach of some competition rule. Does anyone know what the rule that Spurs breached is?

Well that was bloody marvellous! 4 assists and a goal from Manny and Saha got two goals and an assist. Not bad for a first time partnership!

I was really nervous before the game because Ba and Cisse are sensational players, but once again Parker and King controlled the gamel, not to mention Modric and another great show from BMFBAE. Is the title out of reach?

Digging the new avatar charliemouse. I can't see any reason why we couldn't beat Arsenal or Chelsea, unless AVB gets the sack and Hiddink does another rescue operation. Utd are going to be tough, not just because we always stuff it up against United but because despite looking weaker than they have done for years just lately they seem to be pulling it together and to use a cliche - showing their title winning experience. Whatever that means.

Still player to player Spurs have the better team (I reckon).

Anyone else fancying these Mourinho rumours? I believe he is 9/2 favourites with William Hill. I know Levy has tried to get him in the past and Jose has always seemed to have some affection for the club. Allegedly he sees it as the 'right sort of challenge' i.e a well off team with a good squad and decent infrastructure. We also have the advantage of Redknapp having already got shot of Commoli and the whole director of football shenanigans that I know Mourinho doesn't like. He's fallen out with Madrid and well, he'd win us bloody everything and has the weight behind him to convince the likes of Modric and Adebayor to stay as well as maybe bring in some world class players.

It's a fantasy but I can't think of many other clubs for him to go to if he does leave Madrid. Only candidates I can dream up would be Chelsea or PSG.

Do you have the financial clout for Mourinho's transfers though? Every club he's been in charge of has had loads of money to spend on transfers. I can see him replacing Dalglish more than taking over Spurs. Spurs doesn't seem like a Mourinho club if you see where I'm coming from.

I was discussing this with a fellow Spurs supporter and after a bit of research I think his demands aren't necessarily that unreasonable. Granted at Madrid the spending has been silly, but I think that is as much Madrid policy as Mourinho.

At Inter on the other hand, he did rather well on a fairly modest budget. His first three signings (Mancini, Quaresma and Muntari) while a bit crap were all in the £10-15 million region, and in his CL winning season he showed some good business acumen, swapping Zlatan for a heap of cash and Eto'o. He also got Motta and Milito by just getting shot of loads of deadwood (of which Spurs have in abundance) and Sneijder was pretty damn cheap as well. I dare say however that all of these players were on astronomical wages.

Also despite a reputation for needing big money signings to function, Mourinho does make extensive use of a club's existing players, especially some of the more senior playing staff. He used Figo a fair bit before he retired and I think Zanetti played every minute of every game under Mourinho. Likewise at Chelsea Lampard and Terry formed the core of his side.

With Spurs' current situation its not like he'd have to go and spend a fortune as well I suppose. It's odd because there is always talk of a return to the premier league but none of the clubs seem like a perfect fit to me. Inter and Real certainly seemed so at the time, but look at any current club he's linked to in England and there's always a "but..." somewhere be it image, money etc. If Spurs are to really kick on to the next level then swapping Redknapp for Mourinho might just be the thing to do it.

I think you have a point, though personally I blame our current run to the fact Harry does not rotate the squad enough and now our best players are either injured or tired.

It is the same as last season really, it was around this time we went on that awful run and missed out on a top 4 spot when we had been in 4th or better pretty much all season.
