Nintendo DS Lite

I'm guessing you're the kind of person who can't just switch off and pretend they are not there, but will instead boil with impotent rage at the cruelty of this heartless fucking world?

Or are you cool with it?

I can deal with it, but it's pretty annoying and it's inexcusable that they can be put on sale like this.

I bought screen protectors with my Lite (which will hopefully be arriving shortly). I was wondering: is there any point in putting the one on the top screen? I was mainly concerned about protecting the bottom screen from the stylus. Furthermore, if I save my top screen's protector, can I later use it on the bottom screen when the original wears out?

The top screen is more likely to get scratched than the touch screen, if the original DS is anything to go by. After a year of use, my stylus has yet to leave a single mark on the screen, much to my surprise.

The screen protectors are different sizes*, and coated with different stuffs. The touchscreen one is designed to cope with lots of abuse, whereas teh top screen one is there to protect it from minor scrapes and stuff.

* The top screen one goes over the border of the screen, as the screen itself is slightly larger, with a border behind it, while teh touchscreens border is above the screen - if you see what I mean.

I cant believe how good games look on this compared to the old DS. Just been playing MK: DS, done a few missions on 3 stars that I couldn't do on the old one :(

Indeed, the screens are incredibly resilient. I have no idea how anyone could scratch it through "normal" use, short of using a cartridge pen as a stylus.

I got some USB power lead from ebay. Only 3-4 quid. My Lite is coming on monday so i havent tried it yet, but should work fine.

I do have a stepdown incase though, from when i was powering a JPN gamecube.

The thumbstrap fucked my original DS up good and proper playing Mario 64 DS, no marks at all from the stylus.

Navy DS Lite has just arrived :P

Going through the set up and I actually shouted 'OMG' when I opened it up for the first time. It's got an amazingly slick finish but does get dusty easily. The power button feels much nicer, it's more akin to the PSP power button which is like a flick switch. The brightness settings are fantastic. On the lowest level you realise how dark the original DS screen is in comparison. I've got it on the third level of brightness out of four.. The buttons have a nicer feel to them, they feel a bit more responsive and spongy.

It's a beautiful beautiful object of desire.

I didn't get anything like the amazingness that I've seen in press pics but here goes..

Why's that, now?

Because of my parents :(. They're old-fashioned and they think that there's an group of gangsters who steal all of my money (I know that this isn't an good sentence but you have to do it with this :D). I hope that another "little" talk with them would help... Let's hope the best :P.

Just buy it from Jim (jm ratkos)

It'll cost £100 in Britain, maybe even more, and Jim is doing them for £105ish incl all the shipping, packaging and checking for dead pixels etc.

Who is this fella then? Where can I order one from him at?

Excerpt from an interview with X-Play from Gonintendo:

'I’m a dork, but I also like, you know this game for the DS, it’s called [oops!-ed]. It’s the US version of [bad Morgan Webb! bad!]. I like that Nintendo is taking chances on some of these interesting games and translating it for the American audience.'

(The edited section above apparently deals with a US version of Ossu! Tatakae! Ouendan! which will be named Elite Agent Force. While this isn’t 100% confirmed by Nintendo, it is a pretty safe bet.)

Pretty cool though I wonder if we will ever see Daigasso over here as well.

Sounds like a name for a stealth game! How would they go about porting this? Would they have to re-record all the songs, or just change them for English ones? Hmm...

Cooking Mama beign translated is also great news! Non-games > games!

Received my DS Lite today and it is such a nice piece of hardware that the pictures really don't do it justice. It is so much nicer to hold and the clarity the screen gives the game is amazing, Animal Crossing now looks clear and vibrant instead of the washed out colours it had on the original DS. Can someone tell me how you change the brightness level of the screen, I can't seem to find how to do in the manual?

I'm desperately hoping that they've done it with all new songs. Desperately.
