Translation of important bits by DS Advanced:

The new DS Lite measures in at 133.0 x 73.9 x 21.5mm (as opposed to the originals size of 148.7 x 84.7 x 28.9mm) and will weigh in at about 218g (the original weighed 275g). The unit is currently set to retail in at about 16800 yen (around $145 USD).

Actually I do like the new light positions in the top right.

Or do i?

Won't the flashing Wi-Fi light be a bit more 'in your face' there between the two screens?

Power Button is missing also, I wonder if they've gone back to a switch (better choice IMO).

I hope they've also gone back to having audio on a wheel rather than a slider.

That's a microphone.

Erm, anyone want to buy a DS. Turquoise, with one careful scratch on the lid?

I was expecting something more radical from a redesign. This just looks like a slightly smaller DS. Can't see me swapping my current DS in the same way as I swapped my GBA for a GBA:SP, unless it has some funky new features. The SP brought in screen protection, compact size, and back light. Do we know if this will bring anything new to the design?

I'll wait until more details emerge before I get too excited.

Not as sleek and impressive as I had hoped but still an improvement on the existing style.

I want.

I think Nintendo set themselves a hard task when designing something with two screens. It's a system that has to have some sort of fold or swivel to support such large dimensions. Making something that can't be a solid, one piece production limits what you can do. Remembering the fact also that the screens HAVE to keep the same distance apart due to the usage of some titles.

I think most of the mock-ups made were far too flimsy or delicate looking to have that official robust Nintendo look.

It would have been nice for Nintendo to take the initiative, like they did with the colour palettes on the original Gameboy games, and ask that any developer wanting sprites that cross from one screen to the next use a built in number to get the distance. I'm not sure of the best way for them to embed such a thing, but the distance between the screens could have then been changed with the hardware informing the game and sorting any issues of lag or misalignment.

Get. Get. Get. My preciousssss.

Seriously, it looks pretty sleek if you ask me. It perfectly matches the revolution and it screams "Designed by Apple California". Which is a good thing. I also like the fact that it is ligther and smaller. I hope it also has an even better battery life.

I really start believing that Nintendo will strike back with the DS and Revolution. I think that the odds of Nintendo claiming there #1 position back from Sony are good. Sony will likely take like 60% of the current markt, but won't attract much new customers. While Nintendo will attract like 50% more customers from non-gaming sources. So the market will be 150% in fact, of which Nintendo can eat like 60%. That is my guess.

And for Sony, it all stands or falls with Blue-Ray. If HDDVD wints the format war, Sony is seriously fucked with their PlayStation 3. Because that will mean they lose their biggest unique selling point -- an affordable Blue-Ray player. So if I was Microsoft, I would throw in some serious money to push HD DVD. Which they are doing.
