Ah man the end of Naruto was totally brilliant :) so glad it actually, finally, ended. It's been a bit of a drag at times, but I'm happy they managed to draw a line (kinda!) under things, and the final chapter was so full of :wub: moments.

'Bolt', though? :/

This year's 50th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that a new, tentatively titled Naruto manga mini-series will launch next spring. The mini-series will tell "a newly budding Konoha story." Shueisha's Jump j Books imprint will also launch a series ofNaruto side-story novels, starting with one about Kakashi, by Naruto movie scriptwriter and novelist Akira Higashiyama (Naruto Shippūden: Blood Prison).

The mini-series is part of the larger "Naruto Shin Jidai Kaimaku Project" (Naruto's New Era Opening Project) marking the 15th anniversary of the original manga. The logo for the project features apparent silhouettes of the titular ninja character Naruto himself and a child. Thefranchise's website launched a "Naruto Final Countdown" page which is teasing the start of a "huge" new project on Monday.

The Last -Naruto the Movie- will open in Japanese theaters on December 6 as another part of the "Naruto Shin Jidai Kaimaku Project." A stage play will also open in Tokyo next March.

Masashi Kishimoto is ending the main Naruto manga series on Monday.

Edit: Just had a chance to actually read it. It was absolutely great, though I preferred the surprise pairings to the obvious ones. Lovely overall though, especially that final panel of Kurama.

It's not really clear what it is yet. If it's short and just adds more detail to the epilogue I'm fine with that. If it's another full length Naruto series I don't know if I'll bother.


That said, it's manga written by the initial author, so it's not GT levels of shit yet.

I was a bit gutted as the translation I read seemed a bit bad and didn't make much sense (mangapanda).

So Naruto 'GT' is already in the works eh? Oh man.

Try Manga Stream. The official English translation of the chapters will be out next week through the Shonen Jump app as well.

As for Naruto GT, Naruto as a property will be going strong...for ever. They're still making DBZ manga one-shots and movies after all.

Well yeah but not really in the same way. They've announced a new manga series. If it turns out to be a series of one shots or whatever I guess it's comparable, but if it's an ongoing series that's totally different. The only DB manga since 1995 when the manga ended are a few cameos in Neko Majin and the two crossovers with One Piece and something else. Given that the Neko Majin appearances are cameos, that's two chapters in 19 years, both shared with someone else. Assuming the split is even, that's one and a bit new chapters of actual DB manga, whereas Naruto has something starting early next year.

So apparently, my crunchyroll subscription includes manga! Didn't realize that, I signed up through the Xbox app. Any recommendations? I haven't looked over it intently yet, but am hoping Naruto Ship. is in there, as I don't think I've read it since the Big Battle™ around chapter 400.

I watched the Toriko/Dragonball/One Piece special and I want to know who the Toriko characters are. Worth a shot of you're an SJ fan then?

I really really love Toriko, got some really good stuff in there.

Typical Shonen stuff but you can't help but be intrigued by the world settings and some of the characters.

Last Order finished? Wtf? Need to finish off those last few chapters then! :)

Presumably this new series is a prequel.

The end of last order was excellent. The new series is opening with some chapters of Yoko and Erica as kids (like last order did but longer) but I think overall it's going to be a sequel.

I'm lurking in Tokyo until mid-April for work and would like to try out some manga that is a) complete and b) not too fucking long. I tend to read across genres, but predominantly fantasy, SF and the occasional slice-of-life stuff (Midori Days for example was brilliant). My Japanese isn't anywhere near fluent, so something with a lot technical vocabulary is going to end up joining the pile of shame (I tried Last Order and my brain melted, Monster is also sitting in that pile too :().

Something else I read recently that was amazing was The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer - only 10 books long and brilliant.

I guess whilst we're here, are Mizukami Satoshi's other works worth reading? I've heard good and bad things about Psycho Staff and whilst Spirit Circle is looking very good, it's not finished yet so I don't want to start reading it, misplace all the books and then wonder which ones I actually own (I'm looking at you Bakuman).
