Ridge Racer 6.

Meh

Recommended Posts

I dont remember saying there was something wrong with the game, just my copy, but ok...

I'm waiting for my local WHSmiths to get another copy in then i'll swap it over.

Ah sorry, missunderstood you there.

On a side note I re-bought Type 4 last week on a bit of a Ridge binge, and I've realised just how far the series has come since those days. It's so slow in comparisson, sports a pathetic framerate, has a hiddeous resolution and weirdly stiff drifts. You have to use the brake button too for smaller drifts, which threw me. Once I got used to it again it was still pretty great, but RR6 is in a different league.

Even when it's pissing me off, I'm enjoying myself.

Like I was saying a few posts back (has everyone got me on 'Ignore' or something?), I was under the impression that if anyone had any loading issues (especially freezing on loading) with Ridge 6, it was more likely a 360 fault than one to do with the game?

As in, playing Ridge can expose a problem with your 360 which you might not have been previously aware of.

Right, the Angel car is causing me no end of grief. ;)

The Devil car fell after a few attempts, and after an hour of fighting its handling against our angelic friend I discovered that the Phelios thingy is far more effective despite being slower. I still can't beat the bastard though.

Any advice? :o

OK, maybe it's just me, but having odd online problems again.

I seem to be having lag free races, yet I can cross the line in 3rd place, yet be awared something silly like 10th place when everyone has finished.

Plus in some races, some cars stay sat on the start/finish line - yet can achieve a top 3 placing.

For the earlier RR games the internal view was king but in this version I find the external view is better as it much easier to judge corners and overtaking.

I take back what I said about using the external view in this game. The internal view is soooo much better. For some reason using the internal view allows me to pull off some seriously satisfying drifting. :)

Well, after arround 16 hours and just over 70% of the World Tour, this game is better than ever. The Special Route proved to be something of a sticking point, thanks largely to the ridiculously hard Angelus duel, but in a similar vein to Ouendan it's impossible to pull myself away from even the most frustrating challenges. Also like Ouendan, once those challenges are finally overcome it feels absolutely fantastic.

It's my favourite 360 game by a country mile, and by that I'm not implying that the rest are all rubbish or anything. I really am enjoying it an extroardinary ammount, and it just keeps getting better and better.

I don't want it to end. :)

Not had a chance to play it since last week due to work but this game just keeps on getting better and goes on forever. So 12hrs in and at 48% with no sign of relenting :o

For anyone who's interested, I've just started a Time Attack thread over in Online so we can have a mini-tournament using the Time Trial rankings.

I'm not certain but I think that silver Live subscribers may be able to upload times too.

Anyway, post in the thread if you want to take part - the more the merrier.

I started RR last night. So far I've done about 20 races, It's alright but nothing special IMO. I was thinking that the graphics are a bit meh. But then I suppose it's an arcade game rather than a realism type game. And I'm not playing it on High Def like some of you. I like the bluring effect and it is a good fun game. Presentation and overall appearance is quite swish. Can you unlock a proper good game of PacMan, that's all I want to know!!

Don't worry, it gets better.

And yes, you can unlock a proper game of Pacman :o

Did anyone else find race 105 (2 races before the end of the first section) incredibly difficult? I can't place higher than 3rd yet! :(

If I manage that am I likely to just get more and more stuck? If so I might return. Shame as I love it when I feel good at it.

Just started this and so far so good. Very Ridge racers like and nice solid HD gfx. Can feel its getting quicker now so fun level is on its way up.

Music so far is very hit and miss as are some of the tracks.

Are the classic tracks in there ? Also can you unlock classic tooooooooons ??

Market Place has some tunes up for sale. I'm assuming these are the "classic" tunes?

Has anyone else suffered the dreaded motion sickness while playing RR6? I felt terrible after a two hour session this morning. First time I've ever had this whilst playing a racing game, it's always been after playing a FPS in the past.

I felt like that after 20 races (see earlier in the thread) but it really does get better and better.

\waves willy

I finished World Explorer recently. Final route is horrible indeed, takes a fair bit of luck and a tonne of patience. Just try to keep close enough to them with a double\triple nitrous up your sleeve on the last lap. Theres usually certain parts of the track where they're slower than you, use your nitro there to get past, the closer to the end of the lap the better. Trying to get ahead on the first two laps is a waste of time, they'll just nitro right past you, the cheating gits. If its any encouragement I found the first two races of the final route the toughest, the last few fell pretty quickly in comparison.

Well, I got back home this evening at about quarter to eleven to discover this had finally turned up after the first package had disappeared in the post. I've had to drag myself away because I've got to get some sleep, but I've got the biggest grin on my face imaginable.:(

I have just unlocked the first class 3 cars and believe me, the game just gets better and better. Had some great races online last night too.

Am I having really really bad luck or does this game drop to 10FPS for everybody the second they want an online race?

It's been mentioned in this thread already I believe - but what you need to do is make sure anyone you play against has the 360 to P.C communication disabled in the dashboard, including yourself.

I think you also need to make sure you aren't using custom soundtracks. Game should run fine if you make sure of these two things.

Indeed, I haven't had any problems at all.
