You people talk in riddles. PSO was never this complicated.

To be fair, PSO can be quite overwhelming when you first start playing it. PSU bears a lot of similarities to PSO what with weapon percentages (machine, altered, native etc etc), weapon finding, rare enemies and so on, but they've just fleshed out the weapon finding process a bit as opposed to finding really good stuff in random boxes.

Some of it works really well, some of it works slightly less well, but it's incredibly overwhelming when you first start. You'll pick it up.

When did you start playing anyway?

Indeed, quite a lot of PSO-based elements are there in another form - like the elements replacing both the elements AND the enemy types, and Weapon prefixes/specials (like, say, Charge Mechgun) have been swapped out in favour of interchangeable Element Bullets and Photon Arts.

The game only starts deviating once Weapon Synthesis and other room-based features are dropped in, possibly the Weapon Manufacturers as well. In fact, you could argue that, even with the unreleased weapons, the weapon selection pales in comparison to the final list of PSO weapons, especially as 1*-9* weapons of a certain family share only three designs.

And, yes Tokky, I have amassed three Cati/Powders. If I ever get a fourth I'll just end up putting it in your room in a cardboard box. ACCEPT MY RARZ NOB >_>

Yes, weekend SUPER RUN WORLD TOUR YATTA would be a good idea, especially if the patch actually comes out and it fixes the Robot slowdown.

GViper was talking on the radio show about the changes they've made to the game since it launched. He mentioned the PSO levels thing, but he also said that the combat had been made more in line with the rhythmical tapping of PSO. His enthusiasm pretty much sold me on it again, and I have obtained a copy but not ventured online yet. I dabbled in it at launch and it left me a little cold. I'm a die hard PSO fan for better or worse, so I was coming into it looking for something very similar. There's a good chance I'll be buying a sub this weekend... I'm receptive to any deterring posts

ANTI-DETERRING POST!

The reason you're not seeing any rythmical tapping ala PSO during your launch experience compared to GViper's recent enthusiasm is for one simple reason - it was introduced in the online segment and expansion!

Before Illuminus, you could simply button bash for speed and get better results than waiting for animations to end. however, you can now time your attacks to earn an added effect after the first hit, which is the PSO equivalent of using an Attack into a Heavy Attack (and has the same 'swoosh' sound effect, to boot).

Guns don't have this feature (known as 'Just Attack'), however, the guns have been revamped with different firing modes compared to PSO, as you would have already seen from the single player campaign (case in point - PSO Mechgun vs. PSU Mechgun).

I got Grom for 25k in the player shop. ;) I'll save up for a Sturm next, I guess. I'm really starting to enjoy Protranser now though, having the traps is more or less invaluable now, they just come in so handy and literally do turn rooms that take 3-5 minutes to clear into rooms that are emptied in 2 (with 3-4 people in the party, at least) for just 600 meseta.

I got some 7 star axe board that had a 52% rate, and it worked too, so that's another shiney new weapon to play with.

And some other stuff since I read to the end of the last page and forgot to flick forward: PSU sounds big and complicated, but it isn't. It really really isn't. You learn everything quick enough, and the only thing you're left out on is knowing the names of the crafting items, weapons and skills (PAs, shots and techs) and that really is about it. If you look stuff up on PSO-world you can easily find what missions you want to do to get things you're after at higher levels and there really isn't much more to it.

Melee weapons have that lovely Just Attack rhythm going, guns have a nice time your next shot properly for fastest firing rate (button mashing works, but not as reliably as getting used to it) and techers are well, shit on from a great height, but I still like mine. :) Teamwork works so well in it too, and voice chat just makes it so much more fun than when I played it on the PC when it first came out too, because the text interface is pretty much only good for hearing Donk-Bot proclaim his love for bacon.

Grinding Lol:

42% Shiratsuno-Zashi 5/9 - 8/8

46% Fuma-Hiken 4/9 - 9/9

32% Fuma-Hiken 0/10 - 3/7 (Broke every time at 3-4)

36% Nightwalker 0/10 - 6/6 (Broke twice at 1-2, once at 2-3)

Very weird - I did the first two weapons to begin with, had just the one break; went over to the GRM shop to do the Nightwalker and the damn thing wouldn't stop breaking! :) I guess it's just all luck but how bizarre all the same.

17:30 pm on tuesday. So that's why I was massively confused, only had one magic spewing device, one spell, no armour or funky threads.

It has started to click now and rather scarily all of the GUI is starting to making sense.

Oh, you mean that Summon/SnapCrackleAndPop unit?

Still, it can't be as wank as the Captain Rik SUV - Casts can't fire Ricicles for shit.

[/mrrh]

Looking forward to tomorrow - no Forest of Illusion though, mainly because Sonic Team are FASCIST BASTARDS.

I can live with it though, providing that damn patch fixes the Robot slowdown.

Fuck those Universe 1 spackers Donk, I'll be on soon for SEXY PARTY.

Just need the energy to get up the stairs ;p and I'll be doing some bits beforehand, such as upgrading my PM from Trisha Goddard to MINI BRUCE MOTHERFUCKING BOYDE.

With a bouquet. and Paradis LOLPHOTONRAIN.

Forest of WHATTHEFUCKMAN?

So, SO good, even though items in that mission are going to *bomb* in the economy, if they haven't already that is. I'm looking at you, Vish Adan ;p

Must sell my Shatos, and keep the one that Ruby handed over, maybe the Crimson as well. Most of the gear left will be equipped to Karin.

I'm just wondering now if anyone would stomach a B run of this, those Jigoboomas could do with handing me a damn Neiclaw ;/

Sod's law would suggest that you'll get Rappies as soon as you do a B run ;)

Also, failure noise - I got all excited with the board Ruby gave me last night only to find out it wasn't an Arb Boa, but a B'Duki Boa. It succeeded all the same though ;)

Jeebus and Beertiger! Do you want to meet up with some of us this weekend and exchange partner cards, do a few runs, etc?
