Phantasy Star Universe - XBox 360

Ok, so I can't be bothered to rewrite this entire first post. It's January 2010 and it's been a few months since any of the 'regular' crew have played this in anger, and that doesn't appear to be changing any time soon.

The final achievement has been released (Defeat Dark Falz form 2, finish the mission 'Dark God S2' to unlock it) and we've all had enough, so we're gearing up for one final World Tour - or at least, as much of it as we can be bothered with, then we're all cancelling our subscriptions.

A bit like a suicide pact, but with less suicide and more REAL CASH SAVINGS.

It's been a long road.

What's on now: 'Autumn Event'. Basically a rehash of the Protectors missions from last year, nothing good drops other than a very rare unit that lets you trade in your old Degahna Cannon for an S-rank, more powerful Degahna Cannon.

Old Degahna Cannons are retailing for something like 17mil at the moment, and the units for 100-110mil.

Shred the Darkness was a good laugh, and for the first time, the regional servers not only managed to reach their final points total before the end of the event, they also smashed it by an extra 40%. Pretty remarkable for a bunch of wankers.

What's on now: Shred bonuses (2x PA EXP, 3* luck, 15% Grind Bonus, 20% Synth Bonus, half price clothes, free leper for every reader [coupon redemption required]), and the Protectors Choice - or the second anniversary festival, about a year too late.

Phantasy Star Universe - XBox 360 version

HELLO

Eventually I hope to fill this post with super useful and awesome information...

Righto - first things first, for any newcomers, this thread is utterly incomprehensible for a few reasons:

- Jargon

- Injokes

- Waffling

- Stat Talk (mostly myself and Toxic)

If you ever need to know anything then don't hesitate to ask - we're all actually really friendly, though you wouldn't think so. Everything seems incredibly overwhelming at first but we'll do our best to explain whatever we can.

I'll flesh this out properly later, but for now, some useful things:

'PSU SUPER CLAN' and 'Gacha Rinsing Co.' are Clan/Team/Guild/whatever names - We don't consider ourselves a clan but when we needed a team name during the last big event we came up with Gacha Rinsing Co, which was strangely enough based on an injoke. PSU SUPER CLAN is something we'll probably use as a way of pissing people off in the future. We'll see ;)

PSUPedia is a great resource for finding out information on weapons, items, and so on; PSO-World is good at filling in the gaps that PSUPedia has, and if you're feeling like you need to shed a few brain cells there's always the official forums.

Come and play this wonderful game with us! It is wonderful, and so are we.

And so is bacon.

Great idea to have a separate folder, I was starting to get confused. I’m a level nothing, no one at the moment, but I’ll be on tonight at some point after eight. Cecil Kay is my gamer tag and my PSU character name will be Cecil. I’ll probably be on most nights from now on, but tend to take things quite slowly

Since I've started again as a Force, I'll have to raise my PM to lvl 100 again. :) I'm going to concentrate on raising tech this time so if anybody finds any 1* staffs or whatever, they sell for 1 Meseta or something in NPC stores and I'd be happy to pay 50 Meseta for each one you find. Just hold on to them for me and pop into my shop when I'm online and I'll take them off your hands. :)

I'll be on at best at 6/6.30pm. Worst case 7.30/8.00pm. I have a fridge full of Guiness so I'll probably pass out at some stage during the evening :) . Yet to create a character and play the game online. That should be straight forward enough although I still don't know what class I am going to go for. Amazingly I stuck with a sole character on DC PSO and I don't think I want to go down the multiple character route. I tried that with World of Warcraft and it was the final nail in the coffin for that game for me. I've played the single player game so I know the basics and I am ready to get stuck in. Should be a nice alternative to pretty much everything available right now Xbox Live.

OH MY GOD... SEGA AND MICROSOFT I FUCKING HATE YOU!!! :)

Got PSU, Added 2100 points to my account ready to buy the Guardians license... and guess what? The only way to pay for PSU with points is to use a NEW prepaid card - there are ZERO options to redeem points currently on your account.

The other option of course is to use a credit card and pay £6.99 a month... however i don't have a credit card which MS will accept with any cash on it. My Visa account has £0 in it, and my Maestro card, which I COULD pay with... they won't accept.

Complete. Utter. Farce.

Surely I can't be the only person whose experienced this problem? Heck, surely people should be able to buy a license with points already on their account as a matter of common sense!?!?

The billing options are cetainly unhelpful. Maybe it's down to Sega the non option of being able to use points properly.

I'll add Evil Rock Kizza and Caz Chan later today.

I'll be on... in a few days. Foolishly opted to wait for the release here, only to realise I wasn't willing to stump up £40+ for the game on top of a subscription - am now waiting for a Movietyme order to come through - hoping it shouldn't take more than a few days (plus the weekend, sadly).

You won't all shun me for my character being a newbie, right? :)

[side note - I haven't played PSO since the very first title (which I played for a few months religiously until my Dreamcast broke, and I replaced it with a second hand one which was already registered to the network with a different name & password :)), so I'm also likely to be a bit rusty too. Be gentle!]

Yay, I look forward to bumping everyone online. First online console game I'll have played since the original PSO, I'm kind've excited :)

Haven't yet decided what to be, though. Used to like meleeing (was a HUnewearl), but maybe I should try something new this time... stick with Newmans I think, but maybe play to their strengths this time.

Most important question though: male or female? Not sure how much it'd disturb people to hear a male voice for a female character, but girls are prettier have better stats...

Also, should I invest in an USB keyboard, or can I stick to just voice comms comfortably?

Edit: sorry, awkward mix of stream of consciousness and ATF-worthy material there. I'll try and avoid it in future.

Like I said in the other thread: Universe 15 is full of PSOWorld gayers. For whatever reason the PC/PS2 boys reckon that's a good thing but I can tell you from my own personal experience, playing it pretty solidly and racking up over 100 hours online since US release, it bloody well isn't.

Basically if you like seeing your screen constantly spammed with: ^.^ >.> <.< :-) XD O.o and all that jazz then Universe 15 is the place for you, if like me, you think that is a bit queer and it does your head in, I'd suggest you stay away from universe 15.

I'm not really fussed about using a regular universe as I tend to just jump between the first few. Which by my own admission can be worse at times. I think Unis 3-5 would be a good bet though as they're unlikely to be full up at any given time and most of the pricks head for Unis 1,2 and 15.

Is everyone finding it horribly laggy online?

People jerking about in lobbies, 1 second delay between attacks hitting and then registering. Any of this sound familiar or is my connection just fucked?

Yep, you do get certain people jerking about in lobbies. Dunno about the attack delay though. Personally I don't think so but in the heat of battle in a group of 5 or 6 people it's hard to gauge what the hell is going on sometimes nevermind whether or not there's any delay.

I hope you lovely lot realise that you're going to to be power levelling me on Boxing Day.

Save your rares for Stroker!

Some people have indicated they are going to have multiple characters so that should be useful in helping someone new level up quickly. The mission restrictions will prevent you from joining groups of high level characters that are taking on high XP opponents.
