You just need to get reacclimatised to the handling. Theres really nothing wrong with it at all, its just different to other games out there.

Once you get a grip on what the game requires out of you it feels fine.

As for having played it before...its a different game. Different tracks made from some of the pieces of the retail game.

I'm not criticising the handling at all to be honest. It felt immedately familiar, yet didn't feel like being re-aquianted with a close friend. It felt more like meeting a close friend from school and realising that you are both 30 and yet they are still getting drunk on a Friday night in the same pub and playing on their N64 while smoking pot.

yes, the pot might be different and the people in the pub different but otherwise nothing has moved on.

For anyone wondering about the unlocks in SROA, pilfered from gamefaqs:

Classic = Toyota Celica, Lancia Super Delta

Classic w/ both wins = Desert Track

Championship w/ each WRC, just series wins = Lakeside Track

Championship w/ a single 1v1 win = Icelandic Racer

TA against Staff Ghost w/ all tracks (including Lakeside) = McRae Enduro

TA against Staff Ghost w/ each WRC car = Andora Racer

Icelandic Racer seems to be the best car for Time Trials

It's D&D Daggerdale this week

I have high hopes for this bad boy. I'm on a bit of a D&D thing at the moment anyhow, and it supports local co-op, so I've got my heart set on some Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance -esq fun. Torchlight was fun, but it would have been funner playing it with the missus. We rinsed Dark Alliance together back in the day

Been looking forward to this one too.. How many points is it? Expect 1200 hope for 800!

Yeah it's 1200 but I'll happily pay that if it's even halfway as good as BG:DA. I get a feeling it might be kinda "slight" and they'll release follow ups, in some semi episodic way. Some of the previews hinted at that direction

What's the general consensus regarding SROA versus Revo? I've played both demos this week and like the mechanics, but Revo seems to have more content? Is there anything that Online Arcade has going for it that Revo doesn't?

I'd never played a Sega Rally game before SROA, but picked up Revo cheap today because I enjoyed it so much. They're pretty much identical, right down to the menus, but obviously Revo has loads more tracks and cars. It doesn't have the same Championship mode though - rather than getting to the front of the pack over three races, it's a series of 6 car races (I presume all the championships are like this, but haven't got very far yet). Given that they cost about the same, Revo's a much better deal in terms of content, especially if you don't need the tracks from SROA for nostalgic reasons.

If anyone's playing either of these at the mo, send me a friend request (JonnyLaurence). I need some time trials to beat!

Revo is great, but so is SROA. The Arcade version just has a different structure, it has the Arcade style 3 races to get to the front, with checkpoints and a bonus track. It also has Desert 95! I'd say they compliment each other well, Arcade is great for a quick blast, Revo is better for a longer session

I just can't win on the Lakeside track in SROA. Not being able to practice on it makes it even more frustrating. I'm usually first in the championship by the second lap of Alpine, but the opponent on Lakeside just leaves me in the dust. Anyone got any tips?

Are you using manual transmission? I struggled a couple of times in automatic, stuck it on manual and beat him first time.

You can pretty much play the whole game without going below fifth anyway!

Couldn't you practice on time attack?
