Not any more I'm not! :D

I was sure I read that it was removed for the arcade version. Played the arcade version a little while ago and I remember thinking it wasn't in there. Hmmmm.

Edit: looks like I'm full of shit! Still, I'm convinced the track def wasn't there in the version I played.

VF2 Saturn replaced the background elements beyond the ring with a 2D backdrop and the character models are a bit simpler..

Everything else was pretty accurate..

Looking on Wiki.. it reckons the Model 2 board only output at a resolution of 496 x 384.. IF that's true.. it's no surprise the Saturn VF2 had some compromises as it ran at a res of 704x480

I'm not feeling SROA from the demo at all. It just feels, I dunno, odd somehow. But, it's been that long since I played Revo (which also had a terrible demo) maybe it's the same, I'll have to check but I don't think I'll be buying before doing so. Plus the demo track "new" or not seems virtually identical to one of the tropical tracks in Revo, again I'd have to check though.

Its not exactly the same, but its probably the closest of the tracks to retail Sega Rally.

Again, it's been a while since I've played the retail game, but I think Lakeside is different, and of course the Desert track from SR'95 is 'new'

Just had it lock up on me in an online race. Someone quit before then end, I finished 1st; but the results screen showed me in 2nd behind someone who wasn't even in the lobby when the race started

As a big fan of Sega Rally Revo I bought this without even trying it and after playing it knew it was the right choice :D Great little bit of rallying fun to go on my hard drive. That'll go along nicely with my 360 version and PC versions of Sega Rally Revo too.

this new sega rally game completely baffles me, i don't 'get' the handling at all. same with revo. how are you supposed to take the corners at speed? i guess there is some kind of trick like changing gears down/up quickly like in outrun?

There's a number of ways really. For medium corners you can turn in hard initally to get your car drifting then release the steering and use small movements to carry the car through the apex. Pumping the accelerator once or twice through these corners works well too, as it gives you a little extra traction. For chicanes light steering / counter steering works best. I only steer full-on at medium-hard / hard corners and hairpins.

Changing down a gear is useful for hairpins and 90 degree turns. I've not really found much of a use for the handbrake, it tends to slow you down more than shifting down a gear.

Oh and MT is a must if you're time trialing, it gets you away from the starting line much quicker than AT.

That's got to be the worst demo ever :(

I see your point, but I'm not really sure what else they could've done with it. The championship races are over in less than 10 minutes as it is. The 'danger' with small titles like this is giving too much away in the demo / trial versions. I'm a time trial whore, so I knew I'd get my 800 points worth from that alone.

thanks for the tips Lyrical Donut :)

No probs!

Had a look at the demo las night, whats happened to the handling? Looks like the camera is fixed behind the car which gives no sensation of drifting what so ever when your going round corners!

They could've let you race more than 1 lap and not dumped you to a screen where the only option is to buy the game forcing you to quit out using the dashboard. The whole thing felt a bit tacky.

It was enough to remind me how much I loved Sega Rally Revo though so I've ended up ordering PC Sega Rally Revo and I might scour second hand shops for the 360 version to play splitscreen :) .

Excactly. As I said yesterday, they fucked this one up. I didn't expect this of Sumo.

As an in-car racer I have to say I'm really enjoying this. It costs a fiver FFS, quit your fucking moaning and play the god damn game.

Seriously though, solid Sega Rally game, handles like I expected, and completely what I was expecting from an XBLA SR port. Well done Sumo. +1
