Hoped you liked the waterfall area last night. For more visual treats check out the lobby after completion of the new Moatoob quest. Can't make it on tonight, so get Parable Apple to show it to you or something, he seemed impressed, right Apple?

Heres one for you moaners. The new Photon Arts update didn't go through as expected today:

New Photon Arts Delayed

Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, the 20 new photon arts that were posted in this space have been delayed until March 2nd. We here at Sega sincerely apologize about this issue and any inconvenience this may have caused.

Anybody got a link to what the photon arts are/ how they look? I still don't have a clue. Anyway, that means the only update we got was a story mission. I'm not fussed really as I still havn't checked out everything from last week (even once over) yet, and the delay gives us some more time to do some S rank missions for PA Fragments. The fact that the next update isn't until March 2nd is a bit :D though.

In other news JP servers got some new SS missions with enemies that break the lvl100 barrier. Interesting non?

Should be bumbling around tonight.

I just read up on this now. This should wipe another 20 odd percent off the total player base.

Ah well, as you say it gives us time to actually get some fragments, but it really spells out the months to come with this game. We'll be doing SS missions by this time next year at this rate...fancy paying up til then?

On tonight.

Well the principle of delaying it until next week doesn't bother me, expect this time round it isn't next week is it?

I'm happy as long as we keep the same distance behind the JP servers in terms of content and don't fall behind. If Sega wish to start giving us updates in monthly chunks, I'm fine with that also, as long as that reflects 4 weeks worth of updates.

We shall see.

They're not playing.

C mode aint coming,

however,

most of the game is a bit more C mode.

you're ranked for every single mission. However!

there are also a party missions (only one at the moment) which are a lot more CHALLENGEing. hahaha!

But seriously,

I don't think it's coming,

I don't think they're playing,

and you're a little late.

Well, I knew it wasn't in from the start did still hold out hope it would be included eventually because Pungee, Tip, Sabre, Monty, Dev and the curmudgeonly old bastard were the best team mates a would-be space pirate adventurer could ever hope to have. If C-Mode had been announced and they were around, I'd be in like Flint and it wouldn't have mattered about level disparities if it followed the same conventions of the original.

Oh well, it just wasn't to be.

Latest game updates:

The Japanese PC/PS2 servers for Phantasy Star Universe were brought down for urgent maintenance earlier this morning to address a number of security issues. During this maintenance, extra measures were put in place to help strengthen the game's protection against cheats and cheat tools. Although the exact details aren't yet known, the changes included client-side patching and updates to the GameGuard software.

In additon, it was announced that any irregular (illegal) items would be wiped from the system and that there would be mass bannings of accounts involved with such items.

The update brings hopeful news to the PC/PS2 community, where the effects of online exploits have been visible for some time. Is this the long-overdue boost to security that players have been waiting for? Perhaps, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Hmm.. we'll see if this has any effect but I'm sceptical. Bungie made lots of promises with Halo 2 and cheating there is still prevalent. At least on PSU cheating is not something that affects us directly and nothing around at the moment is anything like the BSOD's and NOL'ing of previous iterations.

I shall be around tonight sometime after 9.

I'll be surprised if the same measures occur on our servers in a hurry. The game has done pretty well over in Japan, so I'm sure Sega are more likely to protect their cash cow asap. They've had gameplay tweaks in the past that we still haven't received....

PSU is a really enjoyable game, but without C-Mode...I dunno, I just can't play it without thinking about what I'd really like to be doing. Which is C-Mode. I'm one of those who kind of obsessed over it. It was the heart of PSO for me.

I still have my sub open, but I agree that in view of the mission/ranking-like structure of the main game C-Mode is highly unlikely to materialise. And in that case, I'm equally unlikely to.

(Not that this matters one iota; I'm just replying to Red really.)

Curmudgeonly old bastard out.

/me slinks back to 'that mining game'

I like this game, I really do, but for some reason I don't have the desire to go back to it. It seemed like I'd either be killing stuff in the linear line on my own or killing stuff in a group, only stopping to say 'woo!' at the end of each mission. There didn't seem to be any time to chat unless you wanted to be left behind.

I miss joining the Edge lobby and seeing all the familiar names just having a chat before heading out Ruins run. The game is so big that everyone is off at different corners of the universe. I think I only saw Sabe and Gorfy once :(

If some c-mode type affair does turn up before September, I'm totally in.

Last night was great. Our team is ace and we seem to be able to tackle a bunch of S missions now with some value of ease :(

We should try and make an effort to make wednesday nights (start around 8pm) a weekly thing. It seems to suit most of us.

Also, how are people finding their characters after 2 months or so? I knew pretty much straight away that I'd chosen the right advanced class for me, and that's even more true now. I love the support role I play alongside Hyper, and being able to bust out the gloves and punch some enemies about is just :(

I'm also curious as to what weapon set-up people have. In my palette I have:

2 Gloves

1 Spinny Stick Thing

3 Wands (+ Guns)

I also carry a spare Wand or two, Twin Knifes and a Bow.

I think I'm doing OK, Fortefighters the most fun to play for me, but its bad when i'm not surrounded by sexy helpful forces.

My pallets got some knuckles, twin claws, twin daggers, twin blades, An axe, and a saber and handgun. Oh, not very helpful am I? I'm going to synth some more so I have a couple of some of those weapons. for elemental and PA stuff. you know.

I've enjoyed the whole Force/Fortetecher thing from the start. I've always stuck with the Force type in this series and PSU hasn't done anything to deter me from it.

As for weps...

Slot 1 - All purpose rod with three attacks on it and a Resta.

Slot 2 - Wand with Resta/Reverser, coupled with gun in left hand.

Slot 3 - Rod with Shifta/Deband/Jellen/Zalure

Slot 4 - Wand with one attack spell and Resta.

Slot 5 - Rod with all four Dam-techs on it.

Slot 6 - 'Any Other Business' slot. Anything else goes here as I need it, usually my bow.

Also have a spare Slot 2 wand and Slot 3 rod for an emergency when there's no time to recharge stuff. Or I can't be arsed.

And, yeah we're alright that some of those S ranks now aren't we? When's S2 released?

Guest Bebop deluxe

I`m finding fortefighter good fun and usually carry 20 weapons :(

Which go something like.

1. Hanzo

2. Hanzo

3. Caliburn

4. Twin Dagger

5. Twin Dagger

6. Lockgun and either single Dagger or a Rapier.

And they get switched when drained too. Which is happening more and more :(

I hav`nt seen any rappies of any kind since the Valentines quest started. Then last night after it`s over they turn

up!

Christ! Thats a lot man. How do you even have room for items picked up on runs?!

Seeing as people have gone into bigger detail Ill do mine properly:

1. Healing Wand (Resta/Reverser) + Light Gun

2. Dark Gloves

3. Main Attack Wand (usually Gi-spell + Barta/Foie) + Ground Gun

4. Light Gloves

5. Support Wand (usually Shifta/Jellen) + Gun

6. Spinny Stick

I've set it up like this so that each Wand is exactly two spaces apart which means I can double-tap to quickly cycle those and if I need a Melee Wep then it's just a single tap away.

If I'm the only force in the party Ill put a Wand in the last spot with Shifta/Deband. I try to colour up my Wands aswell so I know which is which but not always.

Ill definitely be online tonight from around 8-9pm.
