so, how does the online compare to the offline mode? I'm about 8 hours in to the offline thing, its pretty good when you get used to the wankers! The graphics are nice. and Its lovely to be outside again.

I am concerned I will have the same problem as monty though. hardware online arena was a bit shakey, and I couldn't connect to a game of killzone. it just failed at numerous stages. Hope this works as the gamecube and xbox are fine.

well hoorah! i finally got in to the game... after uninstalling my useless antivirus software (dunno what thats all about)

PSU employs Game Guard to stop PSU running at the same time as certain other apps, to prevent cheating on the PC. Unfortunately its over zealous, and will just dump you out the game at the merest whiff of another program. When I was first playing offline, my anti virus software (Kaspersky), updated its profile. Game Guard dumped me out of the game causing my PC to reboot AND corrupting the off-line save file too! In the end I had to reinstall PSU and roll-back my PC settings as it also borked the screen saver  Rather than uninstall my anti virus, I just close it (completely) while playing.

So yeah, close down apps before starting PSU.

I'll be on a little this morning, around 10.30am, then later this evening around 9.00pm.

I heard somebody else say that but I've played all weekend with at least msn open in the background. Also quite possibly a Firefox window or two. I just changed my AVG software to do updates at restart rather than on the fly, just in case

I really must do a bit of uni work this afternoon, PSU has rather got in the way so far this weekend. We're having some family around for dinner later so I'll do my bit and socialise for a while before escaping to join you lot on PSU.

I'll be on from about 5 till 7:30, and then again after 9 for a couple of hours or three.

Of course, the stupidly large number of meeting places means I'll hardly be likely to bump into someone unless it's pre-arranged. I'll check out my cardies when I get on anyway.

Anyone else, post if you want to meet up.

Lets arrange a super-game tonight after Planet Earth, so 10pm and we can all beet up in Cylez City since everyone can get there with ease, even new characters. Just get loads of us there to trade cards and whatnot

Also I'm logging in now if anyone's about.

Sorry about my semi-involvement tonight: my first taste of really bad lag and a ton of server DCs was a tad frustrating. Good games though, from what I saw of them - so thanks for that. Some of the faster mass slaughter gave me a good ol' PSO buzz.

We really should make some regular nights and times - 'core' sessions, if you like - to make it easier for people to meet up. Especially those who haven't swapped cards yet. That may be a bit hypocritical of me, as I may not be able to make many core sessions, but it'd be a start anyway.

I'm gonna try and do any work before I eat dinner, leaving evenings free for PSU goodness. So unless I'm going out anywhere, assume I will be online from 8-9pm onwards. PSU sure beats the old rllmuk/msn/myspace combo.

I have a couple of questions actually:

1. Can I remove a skill from a weapon? The raising strike thing you start with for example, can I take it off my Saber now I have stronger alternatives or do I have to buy a new skill?

2. All 3 planets have the same parts/clothes in their shops. Does shop stock change when you reach a certain level as it did in PSO?

Your learned skills can be equipped to as many weapons as you want at the same time, and all I know about clothes is that the beret I so jauntily don only seemed to be available in one shop, although that might just be because I visited it somewhat later than the others. I don't go clothes shopping much so, er, dunno.

Nanoblast (the turn into a beast thing) is for beasts only, and SUV weapons are for Casts only.

To make up for this Humans and Newmans can use Crea Weapons which are rare boards that drop for the likes of twin sabers and stuff that can hit 2 targets instead of 1 with a normal strike.

If you're a Beast or a CAST you can buy your SUV/Nanoblast tatoo in the makeover shop for 10,000 Meseta. It's not as much as it sounds, cause by the time you're running missions to level up you're making enough cash to save up 10,000.

With the Nanoblast there's different nanoblasts, one makes you have super strength, one super def and evasion, one immunity from damage. Being a damage whore I've had the strength one since I hit 20

If you look at your life bar, down below it there's a little bar consisting of 5 boxes, basically every time you attack that fills up slightly, when it's filled up you can use nanoblast/SUV to empty it.

I had some really nice games last night and saw another 2-3 new areas, twas good. Also preffering smaller parties now - with 6 people it's really hard to keep track.

A small synth-question. I've synthed a few Sabras and I'm wondering whats the point - apart from getting a bunch of swords with different elemental attributes the swords are pretty useless as they all sell for 1 meseta. Clearly I'd get more if I sold off the materials and the boards.

Anybody?

Hyper P, your last post is blank.

Forum hiccup...

Photon Charge items that restore PP to a weapon can be bought from shops for 500 meseta. There's also an advanced version of this item that restores PP to all weapons you own. I found one by random, can't remember where..possibly in one of the Relic missions. Otherwise you've just got to ration yer PP...

Online mode they may sell for 1 meseta, but if you open a shop and sell them in them you can sell them for a bit more to make some money, people will buy them cheap for PM feeding.

Just had a quick blast with Bethany on the firsy Linear Line B mission. Really quite tough with just the two of us. Perhaps we could try that this evening if a few more people are on?

Does anybody know where I can buy some glasses for my female cast? I've seen people wearing them but I can't see any for sale in the shops and I've searched the user shops with no luck either. Thanks

i will be online later, about 9, if anyone wants to swap cards.

I'm sure in the old game if one of your contacts was online you could warp straight to where they were.. can you do that in this?

Also, im level 6 at the mo, but the monsters in that grassy place (cant remember the name) are still kicking my arse, is there an easier mission somewhere else or am i doing something wrong? I still seem to be using the weapons i started with as well, do they not drop like in pso, am i supposed to be buying new ones?

so many questions... im not playing it offline so i dont know much about where everything is and what i should be doing

Weapons do drop, but not a lot. Best try and synth one via your PM in your room, assuming you have the materials. Just insert all the boards into him and store all your items. Anything with an X next to it you don't have the right parts for yet. I've certainly not bought weapons.

I think Parum is the second zone, so I wouldn't worry about it being tough yet. Linear Line on the Colony is the easiest place, but it's a little dull looking.

What is your character name and type?
